Jack Grealish - Everton on loan

Jack never stopped being a good player or capable of what he's showing. He just stopped getting the chance to play in open games where the opposition aren't afraid to come out and take you on. It's very different playing against ten defenders week in week out.

This should be a reminder to everyone that when players leave they may well do 'better', but it's not really because of anything other than the opposition allowing more space. It's not Pep telling them to be negative, it's not lack of effort. It's lack of space.

Additionally, the same can be an issue when trying to sign players - nobody else faces opposition like this game in game out, so it's hard to know which players can adapt.
Spot on.

Partly our fault. Defenders are gonna get men behind the ball when we use dozens of passes to move the ball up the pitch. It gives them a lot of time to get set up defensively.

I say fault, it's not really because we've been very successful but it also helps to have players like prime a KDB who can still assist when teams get set up.

I think without players like KDB, we are gonna have to play quicker and get the ball forward quicker to create chances and not let defences settle. Maybe if we did that, Jack would shine.

Would you sacrifice our trophies and our records for one individual being the best they can be?

What you on about? No one sane would change those years me, you, Jack or Pep.

He was a very good player for us, then something obviously happened off the pitch but I don't listen to know fuck all fans tittle tattle but it is what it is.

To summarise

He is still a city player
We have a thread on him so if anyone doesn't like discussing him they are free to not contribute
Demeaning his time with us is pretty sad
Making it a Pep vs Jack thing is also sad
We don't have the info to judge what happened and may never have it
We are paying part of his wages whilst he plays well, gets assists and gets another team points. Slightly irksome.
Imho he walks into our first team and is better than Doku or Savinho are now or have ever been for us.

The situation with Palmer is different but we have 2 players that were ours and wanted to play for us and are better than what we currently have. It's a shame and will get discussed. We can't do much about it now and everyone is perfectly entitled to not enter the threads.
I also hope Doku and Sav become better than both starting today and we smash Brighton because we are alll fans and should want that but I reserve the right to discuss City with an open mind. I don't get paid by City's PR dept nor feel the need to be a clapper.

Jack has found his level. He excels against a team that don’t defend with 11 men. In a top side which has to cope with low block every game, he goes missing.
Good luck to him as he’s a nice guy but as I’ve said , he looks good as he’s now in a team that is his level - like Villa were.

He found his level in the champions league fella. People have short memories.

But he is being given free reign on the left to come inside which is not what he was allowed to do under Pep's new system which for the last two years has been stagnant, uncreative and tedious.

Yet only Jack got the verbal criticism.
Did he do it in the treble winning season? Yes. Which Pep always said was the Jack he wanted to see and the one we all wanted to see.

Are you a Pep hater because if your not I obviously wasn't referring to you.

No I'm not a Pep hater, even the term makes me laugh. Anyhow as you are now making imposter syndrome stuff up and don't even know what a Maverick is it's probably best we leave it.

Ok mate. Oh and I have been watching City for over 50 years and do understand what a maverick is, anyone who saw Rodney playsaw the ultimate maverick. And Jack was in awe of the player around him at City because he admitted it, he just needed to back himself more, that is my opinion. I don't think we are that far apart about Jack.

He was a big part of the treble

Ffs the logic on here sometimes
Yes he was but great players are consistently good whatever the opposition. Jack’s a great bloke but you must admit, he shines in lesser teams OR when all the players round him are top class.

Sounds a bit like Dipperology to me and complete bumpf.

Some players have been absolutely gash in our side yet 'earn' their first team spot every week supposedly. Grealish and Ortega dragged City to the FA Cup Final, both were playing well in that competition, both were dropped inexplicably for the final for two players who were not playing well.
Eh?
You think you don't have to compete to get in our team?

There is a lot of truth in this, the question is and it probably doesn't belong in here is when the quality of player drops or they don't suit playing this way what do we do. I thank god Rodri got that goal because that team although not the best to watch imho was the last one for me that could do it very successfully.

I agree, then perhaps reflect on the tone of your post: 'It must be a coincidence then...' Definitely did not infer the correct points you make above.

We have a host of young talents to embrace. Palmer is no more but I wish him well, and the same for Jack. We move on.

Technically excellent player. A real loss and a shame we prefer a no trick pony constantly out of position and intent on losing possession in dangerous situations.
Could understand it more if he'd not done everything requested and at worse had the odd average game. Players that frequently have absolute shockers keep getting picked, but he was treated differently.
Can only have been an off field issue.
