Jack Grealish - Everton on loan

Did he do it in the treble winning season? Yes. Which Pep always said was the Jack he wanted to see and the one we all wanted to see.
And the one we did see, until the system changed and players became like netball players stuck to their zones, except Foden, and weren't allowed to do what they do best.

I do find it odd people blame Jacks' loss of form for his not being in the side, yet we hardly played him last year and won the grand total of shag all. So it can't have all been on him for City's failures, can it.

Now at Everton we're seeing Jack be Jack; roaming, playing in the middle, on the left, wherever he needs to be, and providing for his team. Very 2023 Grealish.

Full pile on Pep in many articles and comments this morning. They claim he is now free to enjoy his football without the straightjacket of Peps instructions.

They conveniently ignore the fact he no longer has a compressed two banks or 10 opposition players in the last 20 yards of the pitch! Teams do not defend like that against Everton or in fact Villa when he was there!
If Pep knows that, why instruct Jack to continue playing that same way and then publicly lose faith in him when he fails to do what you yourself see as the issue to why he couldn't do it anymore these past 18 months?

Same with Doku, who is finding it's his turn to complete the impossible task every week and getting stick for it now there's no Grealish to blame for that tactics ineptitude. The position strategy itself needs altering, not the player.

I agree, then perhaps reflect on the tone of your post: 'It must be a coincidence then...' Definitely did not infer the correct points you make above.

We have a host of young talents to embrace. Palmer is no more but I wish him well, and the same for Jack. We move on.

It's okay I'm perfectly happy with it and stand by what I put and it's tone.

Anyhow enjoy the game.

Who'd have thought playing a player in his preferred position, giving him free reign, having confidence in him, would yield positive results.

Jack is doing what Jack does; making goals for others. Some Blues seemed to think that for £100m he was supposed to get 40 goals a season or some bollocks. Jack doesn't get them, he sets them up!

Our Loss is Everton's gain.
The issue was that he neither scored or assisted at a rate that would be considered acceptable throughout his time at City. He made 157 appearances for City with 17 goals and 23 assists. The sample size is big enough that it is not a statistic anomaly.

Compare these to Mahrez (236 78 59) or Sterling (339 131 86) and they are pitiful. I am perplexed why Jack's stats are so poor. Pep seems to have given every other wide player freedom to attack so why did Jack play conservatively so much of the time? I guess we might get answers in future biographies.

Personally I think that maybe Pep just did not trust his ability to execute anything other than a basic game plan. I had expected that he would be moved into one of the 8 positions as his City career progressed but maybe he lacked the nous shown by Gundo, Silvas x 2 etc.

Having said all that I am enjoying seeing him do well for Everton.

They both played the majority of their games on the right. Grealish is better in the middle, just behind the striker, free to move about.

But Pep kept saying he wanted to see the treble winning Jack but we just didn't see that level from him again. Not all Jacks fault as he kept getting injured. Sometimes nobody is to blame, shit happens.

Haha. What a strange, strange post.

Not only that, it was less than 12 months ago and he’s been injured since it. Which I presume/hope is his point and not something subliminal.

Edit. Now deleted.

There is a fake Grealish account which is blue ticked and identical to his. It posted about Bonnie blue recently and about messaging Kim kardashian.

Jack has found his level. He excels against a team that don’t defend with 11 men. In a top side which has to cope with low block every game, he goes missing.
Good luck to him as he’s a nice guy but as I’ve said , he looks good as he’s now in a team that is his level - like Villa were.

Hes currently playing at a higher level after today.

Jack is finally free to take off the seatbelt and move about the cabin. His two assists yesterday were great and from fast paced attacking. I'm happy for him.
