Brighton & Hove Albion (A) | Post Match Thread

One poor season spilling over into the second. Off the back of two cup final defeats to lower half league sides.

I fully know we won’t win as much with anyone else in the future and can accept that. I just don’t see how we do with pep moving forwards. Especially with the standard of football being served up. It could be better than it is from a performance point of view. Surely the biggest pep defenders see that.

2 cup final defeats says it all. Cup finals! We're becoming a needy bunch, where we don't win trophies every year we want rid. Understandable in some circumstances but to me that's totally disrespectful of Pep and what he's achieved. Support the club and not the trophies. We haven't started this season well, obviously, but it's early days. If you told me now we would struggle (in relative terms) for 2 or 3 seasons then it is what it is, I don't want to become the club who gets rid of the best when they've done so much good for us as soon as we're up against it.

Sorry and no offence, it's just my opinion that I find it ridiculous that his job is being questioned.

If I woke up to news tomorrow that we'd sacked Pep I'd feel sick to my stomach.

Its not the first 3 games this season, but last season games
When you spot a weakness in your armour you fix it pretty quick and that is what scare me about Pep

Everybody has spotted our weakness and Pep hasn't
Fullbacks or lack of fullbacks at the club is crazy ? just because you got a left foot Pep will play, you are left back doesn't matter if you have never learned to be a defender or fullback your in.

A solid setup in defence creates stability and conference to build from
Defensive stability is an absolute must.

Slack and lackadaisical. We should have been two or three up before the pen. We went to sleep after it.

There was a period when Brighton looked pathetic and we should have capitalised. We didn't and paid the price.

To be a bit ridiculous but sadly with a grain of sensibility. Too many have been great servants are now passed it and too many new players have alleged great potential but will be another season before we see it. Where are the players who are now second/third season and delivering
Sadly this list is probably headed by Nunes and Doku ffs

That last sentence just sums it up doesn’t it.

Pellegrini and mancini did a lot, several players did a lot, but what would your thoughts be on us playing aguero up top at 45 because he has done a lot for us?

That's a ridiculous comparison and you know it. Nothing like the same. Pep can still manage, he hasn't grown too old for it ffs. He may need to adjust and adapt but it's entirely possible he gets there.

We are being out coached , out played and out run. Brighton manager again out coached Pep. Again conceded the same exact goal as last season.

Same exact goal we’ve been conceding for 2 seasons now. We haven’t changed anything to deal with it. Every manager goes with the same tactics against us and Pep seems like doesn’t know what to do to stop it.

to be fair I hoped to see quick changes in our play with the arrival of Leijnders and Kolo and how energetic they looked in training videos during CWC.

but I see nothing of that yet. slow speed, lack of real danger from wings, question marks at FB position, high line that simply allergic to attacks vs them and especially to counters. and a midfield that doesnt control games or stop any attack whatsoever against the team. same as last season.

maybe lack of proper pre season is an issue, the month long break after CWC didnt help while rivals started their pre season when we went on holiday, but Chelsea had even less pre season that us as they were busy at CWC long after us, and started quite well even with Palmer out injured.
big worry is when visit likes of Villa, Brentford, Bournemouth, Fulham, Newcastle, Forest who all can make it very hard for top teams, what are we going to do. keep dropping points? whats the plan to manage and win these games? oonce Brighton raised tempo in second half we were nowhere to be seen. after the pen many of us was certain they will score again. even before the pen there was that Khusanov speedrun where striker fouled him but they almost got through there. their first goal was coming and the second too. Trafford made a big save to avoid the third...
they felt we are there for taking...

Wanting to turn up to a cup final isn’t a big ask is it? To lose them finals in the way we did was criminal. Now I know that goes hand in hand with trophies by saying we should win them games but we should be at the bare minimum give a good account of ourselves.

His job being questioned is not ridiculous. If anybody consistently underperforms will be questioned. Even more so when he’s given every tool possible to do the job to the best of his ability. Wanting him out isn’t being disrespectful. He has my love and respect forever more for what he’s achieved. That doesn’t give him a job for life

Is that rhetorical?

Plenty on here lose their shit if you dare question him.
Its factual. I've never seen so much blame being placed anywhere else but with the supposed head man. People keep pointing to the fact that you can't win them all. Obviously. Who is arguing that. But you can keep from being absolutely shambolic and downright embarrassing on so many occasions in the past 18 months that I've lost count.

There was a period when Brighton looked pathetic and we should have capitalised. We didn't and paid the price.

The most annoying thing bar the ridiculous goal at the end was the lack of effort in the second half to get that 2nd goal. I thought I was watching a friendly during the first 15 mins of that. We just look so devoid of ideas. I don’t mind a season of players finding their feet and transition but not watching the turgid shite we are churning out week after week. The style needs to change.

On the way back from Brighton. Sad to read such negative comments on here about our team, some of them from people who don’t attend matches.
I was also at the game. We were bullied. Pure and simple. When Brighton made those changes we couldn’t live with them. They just wanted it more.

I can show you a screenshot of my ticket if it gives me permission to post negative stuff?

Get over yourself.

I have made it through to 20 pages of this thread and will have to give up. I am just so glad there was no such thing as the Internet, when we really were shit and on the verge of going bump. I would have been suicidal.

International break has come at a good time for us. I don't think it's all doom and gloom. Roll on Derby day.
