Let me remind you the team was still pissed form the title celebrations. And Pep didn’t start with our best two centre half’s who were available for that game, and our best team. Once again it was Pep’s own doing.
1. To keep the title celebrations on hold until after City had beaten United and done the double-double, which had never been done before. 2. To play the best team possible against United, and to throw sentiment and loyalty out of the window.
I love Pep, like we all do. And I mean that sincerely. I will always be grateful to Pep. He has brought the fans and Manchester City numerous trophies. More than we ever could of dreamed of and hoped for. But he could have brought us even more trophies if he had picked the right teams, including many of the semi-final defeats, and had been more ruthless in his semi-final and final team selections at Wembley.
I hope Pep picks the best team against United and doesn’t pick a team to specifically combat United’s strengths, which there aren’t many of. City need to go out and blitz United in-front of a packed and a noisy Etihad. City won’t have a better chance of beating United.
