I am gobsmacked but perhaps not surprised. We have a brand new team and a new coaching set up. Yet posters are drawing huge conclusions about the players, the system and the chief coach after one defeat. Bonkers, panic, nonsense. Wait till Christmas to make your judgements or save them for the madness of the Matchday thread. Ffs, City.

That delusion has allowed us to sleep walk into mediocrity. Palace were all over us and had numerous chances not just the disallowed goal.

Forest I agree was more of a stroll whilst ignoring them hitting the woodwork on a few occasions.

Palace final was a disgrace. It was a bad decisions granted, as was awarding us a very soft penalty. We didn’t lose because he wasn’t sent off. We lost because we was shite yet again over the course of a 90 plus minute match and never looked like scoring and conceded the same goal we did countless times last season and now this.
Careful, the holistic police will be here in a moment.

After last seasons mess some deluded people suggested we’d be ok this season. It is a bigger rebuild and will take time. The problem that worries many is repeating the same mistakes like we did all last season, I have no comments on our newbies yet. They need time. But playing a system, defending as high as we do and losing once more is incredibly fucking worrying. We didn’t just lose either. We were second best in every department

So if we lost the next 5 games 4 nil you wouldn't comment? You are right it would be daft to go mental after one defeat, it would also be daft to put a time on when we should show concern like say Xmas.

Non sequitur.

YES!
We have had two games - won one, lost one.
We are hopeful of a return to where we were, of course.
We are annoyed when we lose, of course.
But give the new DOF, and the new coaches, and the new players at least a bit of leeway.

It was a terrible performance, I'm hoping it was just one of those days, even when we were great we had some bad days, everyone does. We will know more over the next few matches.

Some will wait for Santa though:-)

The worry is, if we have a new set piece coach, why do we still look absolutely the same as last season on set pieces, no plan, seemingly no clue. You would expect even spending a few days in training on set pieces would result in at least some difference in approach. The same defensively, we look no different, has Kolo had any time with them, or had any ideas on improvements?

Yes, there are obvious questions after yesterday’s performance.
All I was really saying was that in a restructure which may take two years, it is foolish to rush to judgement on the system, tactics etc. They have had one preseason game together against a second tier side.

Good first official window.

He’s made big changes - moved players on who needed to go (IMO) like Ederson, Grealish then has actively tried to move others like Akanji, Gundogan away and I’m sure Kovacic would’ve been in that list if he was fit. He even somehow nearly got €70m for Savinho!

Brought in genuine quality too with Trafford as a back up, Donnarumma (if it happens) as the first choice, Reijnders is exactly what we were missing last season, Ait-Nouri as a left back finally and Cherki as a bit of magic rather than mechanical in his approach.

There’s more to do - better wingers, move some more on like Ake, Akanji, Gundo, Kovacic, Bernie etc. and needs to identify a right back and sharpish. January? Hopefully. If not then definitely next Summer. Maybe a bit ruthless with others too in terms of performing or being out the door (Dias).

He needs to be a bit ruthless with Pep. Get certain players (above) away from him to integrate the new blood.

His only thing in the ‘con’ list so far has been a Dias extension. I presume it was a case of preserving value because he’s not exactly earned it in the past 2 seasons.

I don't want to point out the blindingly obvious but your second line - deary me.

Expect some criticism, signing 7 players (1 for the future and 3 GK’s).

The squad has just 1 FB, a desperate need for a RB and lack of quality wide options.

I feel this year is transistion and we next years window needs to be huge.

In a position any points deduction or transfer ban would really hurt us now.

Fair too early to judge him but he's only done it Portugal. What works in Portugal will not work here. Can he adapt? It's getting to the point where I've gone from trusting every decision the club makes to questioning every decision the club makes.
I don’t believe a word they say anymore all this so call profit the club is supposed to be making and we are constantly shopping in the bargain basement

But we’ve spent £350m this year - bargain basement is the poor quality not the fees we are paying.

Not one player we have bought would have got anywhere near our team 3 years ago.

Yeah you’re right tbf they are spending the money just on poor quality.
