Alexander Isak | Cried his way to a £130m move

The scousers will win the league at a canter again. They're not fucking around in this window, signing top quality players and selling as well

City have been too scared of the criticism of spending big. In the documentarys of league wins they were at pains to point out the low net spend by Txiki etc. It hasn't brought in the plaudits they were hoping for.

Buying mediocre players was going to catch up to us eventually and liverpool and arsenal have not just caught up but significantly over taken us.

Adding Isak makes them almost unstoppable this season.

Meanwhile we brought in Marmoush who can't trap a ball to save his life and can't hit a barn door.

This is the worst scenario possible for Newcastle, selling below what they value him at and doing it hours before the window closes, what are they going to do with £125m in the bank?

You either stay firm, dont sell him and then look to reintrgrate him, or let him rot for 4 months before selling him in January or even next summer where his price wont be any less. Or, you do the deal much earlier and reinvest the money before the season starts. Just a shitshow of a conclusion for them.

Marmoush needs to play as a centre forward where he was scoring for Frankfurt. But oh no he gets shunted out on to the wing here where he looks total gash

Just think if we paid the 85m for VVD where would Liverpool be or what would they have won!? But that’s rewriting history and what ifs because we won a fcuking lot the lot four in a row broke records! We on our downturn going to take another 1/3 years to get back squad why’s..

I think you're being diplomatic. We've been soft arses, simple as that. Our recruitment post-treble and four-in-a-row has been pitiful.

We better blow the doors off once this case is resolved; fed up of us being the nice guys.

Been some bizarre transfer choices and squad planning by the club for a few years now.

No real plan of what player/s to bring in.

Trying to get the best value for money rather than going for the best or best prospect.

With the largely mediocre players we've brought in this summer and the last two or three years, who will then need shifting in another 3 years, it will take us a while to get back to the top.

As I wrote previously in this thread, rivals will always strengthen and sign players. If we are successful or not depends mainly on what we do, not what they do. Liverpool signing Kerkez/Frimpong/Wirtz/Ekitike/Isak is not whats keeping us from being successful, Its us not sorting out our own squads major issues.

With that said, it's mind-boggling how anyone at our club can look at how Liverpool played last season, look at what they are doing in the summer window, and then compare to how we played last season and what we have done in the summer window, and possibly come to the conclusion that we are going to compete to win the league this season.
If Viana or anyone else at the club think what we are doing is enough it's borderline delusion or incompetence. If they realise we are well behind, it's an acceptance of failure. Neither option bodes well for the future.

It’s all fallout from the mistake at the start of last season which they have admitted too.

It’s a little too early to call us delusional and incompetent.

I think a lot of this comes from United being above us in the table…just doesn’t look correct! When we have made half as many mistakes as they have that’s when I might agree with you. Let’s not forget all the good decisions too.

The only mitigation I can think of is the 115 having a material effect on many of our targets. Are we waiting for that to conclude? Are we hoping to win the APT case which could lead to bigger sponsorship deals and significant compensation? With our relatively low net spend, are we holding back in light of all of the above so that we can drop a £450m transfer window next summer with world class household names?

Admittedly I'm stabbing around in the dark a bit, because everything you've said is right and I don't want to believe that we've lost our way to this extent.

I think very little of this comes from us losing the last 2 games and very much from using being awful last season with most of the major issues last seasons squad not being adressed well in the transfer market.

Remember we finished stronger than any club in the PL last season to finish third. It was bad by our standards but our standards are extremely high.

I think a lot of blues will be disappointed if finishing third and an FA cup final is completely unacceptable now. Obviously we will try to get back to the level of 2023 or as near as we can but it’s far from easy and may never happen again. Think how Liverpool felt when we won four in a row…they came back but it took them years.

The PL is probably the strongest domestic league the World has ever seen right now. A little patience may help.

Well talking that shower of shit from down the road. To emphasise how bad our signings have been since the treble. It’s now the first time in years they’ve got 3/4 who’d walk into our team.

It’s because they’re so well run, take the coutinho money as an example.
It’s allowed them to purchase both Isak and Wirtz.

Well at least that’s what the papers will lead you to believe.
And having spent the Coutinho money on Isak 'n Wirtz they still have the Coutinho money left! It's a Murkyside Miracle. Water into wine in Crosby and the raising of Lazarus in LIverpool!

You’re right we put a good run together towards the end of the season and did well to finish where we did. However, how many times did you watch us and think we looked good? It was more about getting the points and stumbling over the line to then hopefully improve the team vastly over the summer. Contrast that to the end of Pep’s first season where we got 4th on the final day i think. Where you could see a really exciting side emerging that played great too.

Maybe but Real Madrid have got a lot more than that and they don’t win everything. The trick is that the team is greater than the sum of the parts. Let’s not give up just yet.
