Not a single negative headline anywhere in the media about their £500mill Summer transfer spree.Yet City got continually slaughtered for it by the football media.
Skin colour mate and having racist American owners.

Add to the fact that every cockhead in the British media has a hard on for everything red and you get why the tramps spending spree has been given a free pass.

It's all about moneyball which justifies spending around £400m this transfer window whilst breaking transfer records? All earned from winning the Premier League last season unlike City when we have been winning.

They are no longer net spend champions but found some more of the Coutinho money down the back of the sofa so nothing to see here.
It's all media spin and PR.

Clubs have been spending money in the Premier League for years. It was seen as a sign of strength at one point, and a pathway to winning the league.

I remember when the media would get all giddy talking about the pisscan's "War Chest" before the window opened.

The problem the media have got (and now, by extension, the red top clubs) is that they have spent the past ten years berating "money bags" City for buying the league.

Although, they've attempted to differentiate our "dirty oil" money, from their "organic" money the damage is already done.

The media's relentless negative focus on money, and its damning narrative on spending, has tarnished the whole league. This has subsequently, made any investments in the acquisition of players appear crass and vulgar.

This has left the media broadcasting companies in a bit of a pickle, with regards to public opinion. They can't afford to be seen to be guilty of double standards, and this is why they're performing mathematical gymnastics when reporting on the likes of LFC and the rags in particular.

Spending the cash & building a very good squad. Way ahead of us sadly. Going to take some doing stopping them for a few seasons. Need salah & van dyke to leave asap

At least it's quiet at the City-billion-destroy-football front.

US $$$ set new highs. The old narrative of players' wives bringing baskets full of butties to the training ground in this wonderful family club are over.

And one of the reasons why the club has decided to be too cute and clever buying prospects no other top team wanted rather than going out and buying the absolute best.

The club needs to grow a set, realise how the low net spend as not brought in the plaudits they were hoping for and get back to buying the best.

Or is the club actually being held back financially!? City haven't spent any serious cash since signing Grealish for £100M and that was how long ago already. Liverpool go and splurge £500M in one transfer window and its ok!!?? Stinks

The media absolutely do not give one single fuck about double standards when it comes to City. They will gleefully praise the Dipper's for their 'exceptional recruitment strategy' and 'fearless board' for allowing them to becable to 'compete' with moneybags City.

Looks like they are going shit or bust whilst we're in transition.
The dippers appear to be buying quality although time will tell. Hopefully we are in transition and not decline, sadly as things stand, that lot look set to dominate over the next few seasons.

Let them get giddy because when they do they come crashing down thanks to their own hubris.

I think the big six have had their eyes opened by the amount of money that can be earned from the CWC and want to be in the next one.

They remind me of Real Madrid during their Galaticos era.

I'll tell you a few phrases, we won’t be hearing from the pundits and the media this season:

"How do you stop this Liverpool team?"

"Their defense can be got at"

"Surly, this is unsustainable for a whole season"

This is all we heard from the media when we were dominating the league.

Some other things that Mr. & Mrs. J Public won't be hearing from the media this season will include; the cost of Liverpool's players and any criticism whatsoever of Florian Wirtz performances.

Let's hope that the lack of criticism they receive from the media has an adverse effect on their season.

Although, none of us enjoy the negative press we get from the media, it doesn't half cultivate a strong siege mentality.

Matchweek 3, and I've still yet to hear a commentator mention Wirtz or Ekitike's fees.

I agree with you up to a point.

The media cannot abide MCFC and they are more than happy to show their allegiance with the red tops.

However, football isn't tribal for everyone. There are literally hundreds of thousands of people across the country who have a casual interest in sports and it's with this audience that the media need to tread carefully.

Point in fact: I have a relative who lives on the East Coast and she watches the BBC and reads newspapers for her news and sport updates.

She has absolutely no idea about football and yet, she has noticed that there is a different narrative in the media.

The last time we spoke, she commented how the media were very positive about Liverpool's spending. What was more telling is that she said: "I thought clubs weren't allowed to spend money anymore?"

That's the damage I'm talking about, and it's why the media are tying themselves up in knotts over it.

They have literally become victims of their own narrative.
