It's Quiet the £250m return

The argument I'd make re RB is not that we missed out on a RB that moved, but that availability is relative. Newcastle didn't view Isak as available and he's gone. With Gusto, Chelsea seem incredibly amenable to selling & replacing players, yet we didn't seem to make any serious enquiries other than for Livramento. We could well have been rebuffed but If we had any interest in Gusto, as suggested elsewhere, then an earlier bid may have been interesting.

What do you mean by available exactly. Any player is available at a price.....Madrid come in with 300m for Haaland - you think the top brass dont at least consider it? You bet they fucking would.

Ar you telling me that there is only one right back in world football that could meet our requirements - that suggests are requirements need to change if so

Ok offer 100m for Matty Cash job done.

I think its naive to think you just go around offering blank cheques to clubs and players and it all just works out fine.

I'm more interested in who people think we "missed out" on. We don't know who just said "no, I dont want to move i like Paris/Milan/London" etc

Hope the club get really petty and jealous about the fact the dippers have just broken the record fee twice in a window without so much as a murmur and decide to go big next Summer when certain contracts are up.

So you dont believe the best player in world and someone who is a lot more qualified than anyone on here and beyond within the fan base to make an assessment..just cause it fucks your argument up. And how exactlyi s it a puff piece when he is saying something quite derogatory about the level of our squad?

We needed to be ruthless in letting players go. Pep needs a bigger squad - the whole of football is saying this that with the ever increasing demands on players. Other clubs manage to seel players at ridiculous prives to the Arab league yet we cant tap into that market? How much did Nunes get to go there?

I agree Nico OReilly aint a 10 at this level (not at present certainly) - but he aint a left back at this level either....
Why does it fuck my argument up. What is my argument?

You are banging on about not having a Rodri backup like we dont have several international midfielders already who play CM. Where is this mystery player going to play or even get registered?

We have let a load of players go, the only ones who have any value to anyone. Can't do anymore than that but of course your decades of experience as a director of football would know that.

We didn't shift Laporte and Cancelo for big fees to Saudi? Nunez is a mercenary, he doesnt give a shit who pays him and I couldn't care less either. Maybe we have a bit more respect for someone like Kovacic who seemingly rejected a move there.

He has a lot more potential to make a living in that position than anywhere else, like Zinchenko did who was also a 10 when we bought him if I remember.

I'll leave it there mate.

If you think every player is a City player if we bid irrespective of literally everything else in their lives, their own clubs and all the other competing clubs then I respect the confidence but I find it a bit ambitious.
Sure, but I'm struggling to see Muniz turning down a move from Palace to City for a couple of years.

I feel like people aren't really getting that to get a RB to improve your starting XI there actually has to be one available.

We clearly thought that might be Livramento and that didn't get done.
He would have been a great signing but unlike Liverpool for Isak i don’t recall it being none we even bid. Was lots saying the 70/80m would be too much. So instead of going all out for a 22 year old who’d improve our weakest position we carried on with our recent policy of spending shitloads on players for 40/50m who don’t actually improve our team

I 100% think we'd have offered whatever the price was for Tino and will do early on next summer. Just Newcastle wouldn't sell hoping to renew him at this point.

Maybe thats why I'm not as angry about the RB scenario.

Agree quite happy waiting for Livramento if thats whats happening. Interested what we do next summer with a few spots in the squad opening up, If players like Livramento and Wharton become available. I think we have a good young foundation and with a few additions next summer will build another very good team.
Most of the treble squad is gone, more of the rest will go in the next year expecting to replace all those and hit the ground running is just dreaming.
