52 | Oscar Bobb - 2025/26

Suffers from the same illness as doku, which is that he's a really, really bad decision maker. Almost always just makes the wrong call.

Genuine question mate do you actually attend city games? I’m just curious as a season ticket holder who attends away games when possible I don't see the contributions you’re describing. If your description were a why isn’t he starting every week and why is there so much discussion about his supposed merits? I’m not interested in youth football as it bears no real resemblance as is proven time and again to the premier league.
Why does said poster have to attend City games to have an opinion, and btw I do attend home games when I’m not working, anyone in the world can have an opinion on City, what year do you think it is?

Reason for me asking is if you watch 90mins in the ground week in week out as opposed to just highlights you maybe have a different impression. Never questioned the right to an opinion why would I? Mine matters about as much as yours to what happens on the pitch, however my opinion is based on watching Doku have no impact or progression on our fortunes since signing. In fact since we signed him our fortunes have declined and maybe so have his as an individual as he isn’t a starter and I’m sure he’d like to be. The idea that he’s creating loads of chances and affecting games to the degree the other chap suggested is what I questioned not his right to hold the opinion. Also I wanted to know how informed his opinion was.

Fair enough, all I’ll say is City are the most watched team in the world, you can practically view our matches from any country on the globe. I agree doku has regressed gone backwards, so have other players in the team, I think this coincides with Peps drop off and it shows all over the pitch, we have to wait and see what happens because things are not good atm.

Might be a decent player but bloody hell one of the most hyped players I’ve ever seen I mean he was better than yamal by a few on here .

I’m guessing you missed the Wolves game then.
His assist in the Wolves game was down to a brilliant finish by Reijnders, the pass itself should have been fairly straightforward for a City player but he underhit it and if not for the fact that Tijjani hit a perfect shot we would be talking about Bobb wasting an incredibly promising counter-attack.

Oscar is clearly incredibly talented but he also seems to have that trait of being primarily desperate to dribble/skill move past players and score brilliant solo goals and IMO that attitude is just completely antithetical to this team.

Several times a game I’m left thinking ‘oh that would’ve been incredible from Bobb if he had pulled it off’ but if he never a actually does pull it off then what on earth are we doing?

Doku’s bad decision making comes from an earnest place, Bobb is well aware that ‘let’s try and dribble through the whole team’ is a silly plan but does it anyway because that’s what’s best for him.

To be fair to him he has only played 3 games this season after a long lay off. He is overhyped as are others and whilst he played ok first half against Brighton, he was absolutely shite in the second.

This season already looks like it is going to be some highs and lows. We won’t be winning the league with this squad so maybe we have to just stick with him.

Everyone is expecting Foden to make a miraculous comeback after that shite he served up last season. I’m not convinced.

Maybe the problem is at the top but it’s hard to consider it.

That’s what a lot of this fan base fails to do, sticking by the players.

How many times for all the incredible goals Messi scored do you think he lost the ball whilst dribbling? Obviously i’m not trying to compare him to the greatest player ever but i’m just making the point you can’t have one without the other.

It’s something that absolutely does my head in these days and is probably the reason we see far less maverick entertaining players as years gone by. In that if the winger tries to dribble past his man only 2 things can happen. He either beats him or gets tackled. If the winger who might not see the ball in a good position for another 10 minutes gets tackled twice there almost an apathy of what’s he doing! Probably why we constantly watch games of teams going sideways and backwards for the most part.

The dribble Bobb did on Sunday where he beat 2 and tried to spin on the ball. He actually messed up the final part of the turn which would be something he’d get right 9/10 in training. Had he not he was on for an absolute wonder goal. The lad has been out over a year and has only just had his first 3 starts back to back. He needs encouragement and support to play his natural game.

There's a couple of things that Bobb does fantastically well - dribbling and releasing players at the right moment. Currently, he's not quite getting those things right, but if he does then we have the type of player we've been missing for a while. Let's support him to get there rather than berating him for trying

It' amazing on here how some on here pick on a young player like Bobb and criticise him for the limitations of his game. Yes, he's got a lot to do but so has Haaland. I suggest some of you go back and watch last seasons 0-4 defeat at home to Spurs. His finishing in that game was abysmal. In both the recent Spurs and Brighton games he has missed chances which would have changed the dynamic of the game. Since he joined us has his heading ability improved,no. Does he impose his physical presence, no. Does he always take up intelligent positions for crosses or corners, no. So don't expect a young lad to be the end product at this stage of his career when there is considerable scope for improvement in our world class striker
