Based on what ?He was looking good then he got injured in atckle against spurs, end of story.I did
That's what I was alluding to. Already this season we know that Foden will not be part of the spine of the team. Love him but simply cannot be relied on atm.Was, currently not close.
What we used to do brilliantly was to win the ball back within a second of losing it. For the last couple of years we're just as likely to concede than we are getting it back!

We all wish Foden well but he himself has acknowledged a struggle (albeit in the Daily Fail).

Of course we support him but some cant take the fact he was poor last season and has acknowledged himself he had mental issues and other things in his life that had affected him? He possibly imo won so much so young playing with the likes of Silva, Aguero, Yaya, Sterling etc that he peaked early and wont progress any further?
I think you make some really strong assessments here. I also disagree with some.By watching our game.
By watching what happened under PSG once Enrique took charge - for example.
And by exercising common sense judgement.
Something is wildly amiss at Man City currently - in terms of signings. We're bringing in top talent that doesn't fit our system and we fail to shore up obvious weaknesses.
Pep's philosophy has been high press, shadow marking, win the ball back quickly.
Now, we're (I guess) mostly trap pressing - fullbacks jumping into the press if they think it's warranted - same very high line - and now we've invested into an offside trap which sometimes works... it's a fucking mess.
What's going on is that we're not immediate enough on the press - and our fullbacks are far forward. Time and again our opposition can lob the ball over our defense on the left or right flank and we're in big trouble.
Common sense would surely tell you that if you sign Europe's greatest creator, and the Serie A midfielder of the year, both highly technical international footballers, that they will be able to adapt to the system you have, or are adapting. As you say, we have bought top-level talent.
You are correct in your assessment of what is going wrong, but not in your judgement of the new players, which is very premature, IMO. People are letting short-term results impact too much on the assessment of new players who are in single-figure appearances for the club.
We are in transition, and not just on the pitch. We have to see it through.
