It's Quiet the £250m return

My point was more what we are doing currently isn't much different to what we did to build the oiginal winning team, while liverpool throw record fees at current big names Isak and Wirtz with no guarantee it makes them better than wht we 've done.
Wirtz is a top player but is Isak a flash in the pan? See Andy Carrol.

Liverpool are playing in a similar manner as we did at the start of last season where they are getting the points but they are not playing well. It's unsustainable. They have been incredibly average in the opening 3 games and if they carry on as they are they will have a period where they drop points.

Their expected points is 3, and they are massively overachieving expected goals.

Now, you can take those stats however you like, but as a follower of those stats over the last few years I know for sure that over the course of a season they usually match up to actual stats give or take the odd exception. So as a long term indicator they are pretty good at predicting what is around the corner.

Point is, Liverpool will not carry on winning games if they carry on performing as they are.
I dont think we should be worried about what the dippers do personally, I dont think our battle will be with them this season I'm afraid. Even if they dont continue winning, we wont be there to capitalize.

We should only be worried about what we do.... and on that basis we have been very very poor the last two games showing the exact same frailties/errors as last season on and off the pitch.

All this XG is utter bollox.

Haaland should have had 3 goals last weekend and mustered 1.

The only stat that matters is the 3 points.

We've seen us sneak last minute winners in the past. It's a sign of a team that wants to win. It isn't down to luck when a team scores half a dozen late goals a season.

You can undress the scouse team as much as you want. They will be up there this season. And will be the team to beat!!
You could also factor in that we have been notorious slow starters in terms of form in title winning seasons.
Then come January we've clicked and blown the rest away.
Them lot down the M62 are likely the team to top this season

Think Silva was pretty much the level Cherki is obvious ability can he adapt to the PL wait and see, Silva did.Toure was well known but Barcelona didn’t want him we developed him but was he a better prospect than Reijnders when he arrived ,not really. Same with Kolarov and Ait Nouri, Boateng became very good but struggled when he came to us , Khusonov like, maybe ?
Not saying the players now will become what they became, but nothing to say the won’t either.
I’m sorry but I’m not having that, when we signed Silva and Yaya they were far bigger than us signing Chekri and Reinders. Dave was wanted by everyone and Yaya was a champions league winner and a player that walks into 99% of teams world wide.

I get this but we have to admit that window with Bobby manc where we signed silva yaya kolorov and boateng was it was mega and was pretty much the real start of our dominance. We went and got 4 proper players, I know boateng didn’t work out but he was a top player. Liverpool seem to have gone down that route this year
How do you know Cherki and Reinjders won’t work out like Silva and Yaya, let the boys play first.

RAN is prem proven unlike Kolorov and Boateng couldn’t lace Khusanovs boots.

Wirtz is a top player but is Isak a flash in the pan? See Andy Carrol.
Isak has been good wherever he’s been bar one bad season at Socidedad where he got 6 league goals before going to Newcastle, he scored 17 the season before that in La liga, that’s when he broke onto the scene.

Wirtz is less proven if anything, worse league and has looked average thus far at a higher standard than he’s used to.

Yeah, all will be clear soon enough.

Less proven . Yet Bundesliga player of the year two times in a row while being younger than Isak was. How is Isak proven and Wirtz not ? Also it’s not like La Liga has a huge drop off after the first 3. and he wasn’t good everywhere he completely flopped in that „ weaker league „ for Dortmund while Wirtz was top 20 player the moment he entered the league aged 17. maybe Isak is more proven for you because he played in the PL for longer? Hmm. I wonder. When we go by the same age statistically Wirtz is clear

Well it’s simple, Isak has done it at a higher standard than the Bundesliga, at a time where the La liga was still strong, with Messi and Benzema and he’s done it consistently in the premier league.

Wirtz has played well in a league where Jadon Sancho looked like Maradona, and has yet to prove his worth in his outings in English football. As of yet, the pace has looked too much for him, whereas Isak has been thriving for years.

Wirtz will inevitably come good but he’s without a doubt less proven.

The premier league has broken bigger stars than Wirtz, don’t forget.

Manchester City will reportedly be willing to hand Ilkay Gundogan a coaching role at the club when his playing career eventually comes to a close, it has been claimed.

Ilkay Gundogan is expected to return to Manchester City for a third spell, with discussions having already taken place surrounding a coaching role in future.

It is claimed that influential figures at City previously held talks about Gundogan shifting into coaching, and hierarchy members anticipate the German will return one more time becoming an asset if he joins as a member of their coaching staff further down the line.

With his extensive knowledge of Pep Guardiola’s methods and his leadership qualities, he would be viewed as an ideal candidate to nurture the next generation of Manchester City players.

Brilliant news if it materialises!

I love my Gundog, I do.

This, if true, is great news.

He's intelligent, articulate, humble and easy on the eye. We have missed prime Gundo.

Fare well at Galatasary Gundo and come home soon.

Cherki is talent, but nowhere near the level Silva was when he came to us, as a world cup winner. Yaya had played centre half in slippers in the champs league final.

I wonder if u used the Sancho comparison on Haaland too. How does 1 player compare to the countless other Bundesliga players who weren’t flops? Especially when we had KDB, Gundogan, Akanji and gvardiol?
Sancho always had the talent. He just chose the wrong club and started to disappear. United is a major dump. Can see sesko being irrelevant within a year too. He is already dumping down and even didn’t wanna shoot a pen during the loss in the cup competition.

I think choosing the right club is much more important when switching the league - or let’s say just don’t move to United.

I don’t disagree, but it’s still a vastly inferior league, even just from a physical standpoint.

Either way, Isak has proven himself in the best league in the world, Wirtz has that to come.

I’m not impressed by his numbers considering he’s playing for title challengers, King Kev got twice as many assists when he was at Wolfsburg.

Mate…Boateng had a very very good career. You’ve not seen Khusanov enough to come out with stuff like that. RAN might have been in prem for a while I’m not sure he’s proven much. Hardly a queue for his services. They may work out like silva you’re right but that was some statement of intent when we signed those 4. We’ve signed the 4 you mention and look poor-average. Straight away when them 4 signed we looked better

I’m on about city, of course he’s has a better career he’s retired

Oh and the best bit about Silva was the Blue on RagCaf who wound them right up about them signing him beforehand as well. Absolute classic thread that one. Bloke pretending to be from Spain and getting them all wound right up about signing him. Sure we had a thread on here about it and the bloke came on (I think be came on anyway).

Two times in a row? Florian Wirtz did not win the Bundesliga player of the year last season. Harry Kane did.

I've heard this a few times on this forum. It's absolute nonsense.

People confusing Germany's player of the year and Bundesliga player of the year, possibly?
