Welcome Donnarumma!

Can see this bloke being a good one to have around the club and team. Big fella, seems a big friendly personality, very accomplished international and obviously a world class player. When he settles here and Im sure it will be quickly he will be class and Im sure we will grow to love him. Hes a blue now

The way we play isn't working at the moment , it was beginning not to work when we had Eddie and then Trafford in goal . Also players that made that system work have left the team so adapt or die .

Because some people have no idea what they're talking about and some have agendas against players from certain countries or in favor of English players. Don't hold your breath waiting for them to admit it...
Some haven't grasped the fact that the Prem, for better or for worse, is now an international league with City being one of its marquee clubs.

And yet if you conduct basic the most basic of research on Donnarumma you'd find that everything in my post is true.

Look - I get that you're a fan of City and want to support new players in our side no matter what - but I'm different. I support City just as much as you do, but I'm able to look at players and their performances independent of my pro-City bias.

Absolutely so.

Donnarumma, when in his box, stopping shots, is probably #2 in the world - I think that Courtois is a bit better.

But Donnarumma is obviously very poor on the ball - which Pep has in his entire career valued.

Which brings around the obvious question - why did we sign a keeper who isn't good on the ball, especially after we signed Trafford - who is excellent on the ball and fits our system and who is excellent at stopping shots?

Don't think anyone has any agenda about the nationality of any player. Some have doubts about how we adapt our game to change from Ederson to Donnarumma,no big deal. I find it a odd one to get my head around, but Pep knows what he wants so I'm all good with it and looking forward to seeing how it pans out.Not one fan will be against it based on nationality.

Might be worth waiting for him to actually play a game for us before writing him off though.

Donnarumma is arguably the best keeper in the world at shot stopping ability when in the box.

But he's average at best when distributing the ball and isn't good at commanding the box on corners/free kicks.

More to the point - Pep has based his entire career on keeping the ball as a primary means of defense and has put a premium on goalkeepers who are good on the ball. Trafford makes perfect sense as a signing. Donnarumma makes no sense.

Is this the same Trafford who just passed the ball directly to an opposition player who was 4 yards from our goal?

Non of what you're saying is coming from watching him play - it's all coming from articles you've read or watched online which are trying to downplay his ability simply because he's joining Manchester City.

Elements of the media did exactly the same with Pep and Haaland when they joined us as well - it's all an attempt to rain on the parade. Hell, at one point De Bruyne was apparently just a '£60m reject'.

Do you think Donnarumma plays for PSG all the way to the treble if he's not good enough in many attributes? Do Italy win the Euros with him winning player of the tournament if he's not good enough? Both of those teams played out from the back as well. We're talking him being in goal for the top 2 honours in european football.

Huh?

Haaland doesn't fit the Pep system at all - but we can carry him. A side that relies on an effective press and retention of the ball can likely carry one attacker - Haaland isn't total shit on the ball or on pressing... but he's not great either. But he's the best goal scorer in the world - and given that ability we can carry him... by which I mean that we can compensate for his average pressing on defense and his average ability on link up play.

Donnarumma doesn't fit the Pep system at all - but beats the fuck out of me how we cope with a keeper who is arguably the best at stopping shots while in the box, but who is average at best on the ball... which in turn means that our build up from the back is going to take a huge hit when Donnarumma starts.
