If it was, yes.
It is a fact that Kirk's views were often deeply offensive and often racist. That he recently spoke loud and proud about the release of the Epstein files is, I think, far more likely to elicit retribution from Trump fans. It is said that Kirk had been asked to close down that line: his position as a leading influencer to MAGA youth would really have caused some tension in that regard.
