Andy Burnham | Manchester Mayor

It’s part f Manchester’s Japanese week i presume?

Why Bosdingtons though? Is it even made anywhere near Manchester these days (if irs made at all!?)

Surely the internationally acclaimed Cloudwater would have been a better shout!?

Its probably what Mr Suzuki remembers from his Uni days in the UK.

Hopefully it will be the proper recipe not some imitation. Always liked a pint of Bods especially in the days when it was paler than the average bitter.
Like when Greenalls brewery closed, and Tetleys took over brewing Greenalls and it then won awards.

Boddies at its best was a very fine beer. If the replica gets near, great. For me, the champion of Manchester is now Holt's.
Rare I drink beer now (may have one or two on a Saturday) but Manchester based Cloudwater are outstanding and have received worldwide plaudits.

The snake finally appears to be lining himself up for the big job.

Should he get even close to Downing Street, how long will it be before funding for the 'Wembley of North ' gets green lighted?

My Spidey senses are tingling............
I don’t get the over passionate dislike of AB.

I think he’s done a decent job as mayor.

If you strip back football tribalism (admittedly hard to do on a City forum when it concerns United) the whole ‘Wembley of the North’ (lol) project would clearly be a huge win for Greater Manchester. I’m all for any central gov funds being allocated here (rather than further transport investments in London).

Half get your point - but you're being slightly disingenuous (yes I had to Google how to spell that ;-) ) by leaving out some of the facts and optics.

For ease, replace the team to name to Birmingham City so therefore not directly impacting Greater Manchester.

If Chemical Jim the multi-billionaire, serial tax evader, Brexiteer that immediately fucked off, laid off more staff at Old Toilet than Boris Johnson has kids was looking for the government to help fund the apparent 2(?) billion pound pie in the sky build of a football ground for the Worlds Biggest Club best club with the name 'Birmingham' in the title.......

How well would that be received in your household? :-)

It'd still make we want to boot the TV in..........

What a grubby little post. The "snake" eh? How about an elected mayor who has won three successive mayoral elections?

Never mind that you would normally have to be an MP to get the "big job."

Politics is particularly toxic right now, fuelled by bitterness, entitlement and self-righteousness. People like yourself don't help.

I think Andy Burnham has done a great job for Greater Manchester and would be an excellent PM. I do think he’ll see out his term as mayor till 2028 but he would then have a year to win a by-election and take over the leadership of the party in good time for a 2029 GE. The big question is whether Starmer can survive three more years.

All the hate for him based on football allegiances is pathetic.

Dislike of Mr Burnham isn't all based on just football allegiances.

If you lived in Manchester or Greater Manchester you'd realise that.

The Bee network failings, The cameras expenses and now more expenses pulling those same cameras down. The state of homeless issues he said he'd sort out. He's a great bullshitter but what has he actually achieved? Please don't say he's painted all the buses yellow. The bus service is even worse and don't talk about the trams, especially on match day.
I do live in Manchester and I think you’re being a bit harsh about the Bee network. It was only set up in the last year and obviously has had teething problems but it’s certainly a step up from the unregulated mess we had before. People expecting the Metrolink to be equivalent to London Underground are being a bit unrealistic. Since Burnham became mayor several new lines have opened and more have been approved.

Who said it should be like the London underground system?

Painting buses yellow isn't a step up. You claimed that people like me who actually have to use these services only dislike Burnham because of football allegiances. That was the point I was making.

The City council have forced a lot of us out of our cars and the transport options on offer are a disgrace.
Nobody's forced you out of your car. Grow up.

However, increased car density across GM has ensured that roads are clogged up at all hours of the day.

Why thank you - I'm not an admirer and I won't think wonderful when he decides to bankroll the Worlds Greatest Clubs new stadium..........

I don't think that is everyone's sole reasoning as I tried to articulate above.........

I was using the London Underground as an example.
I guess it depends where you live. Near me, transport is pretty good, and having a single bus fare to get anywhere is certainly an improvement, as well as being able to get live updates of next bus services when waiting. The Bee network is more than painting the buses but you probably know that.

Away from transport Manchester has had the most growth of any major city in the country since Burnham took over so he must be doing something right, unless you think it’s all coincidence.
