Used to love those litte, Umbro, fixture booklets.
Bloody hell this stirred a long forgotten memory. When I was a kid in the late sixties/ early seventies there used to be a paperback book that used to come out before the start of every season. It had every single fixture in it for the football league ( The days before live tv so they rarely altered.) it also had a review of every first division club, squad etcetera and also a review of the previous season. I'm sure it was called the park drive book of football, or it may have been the rothmans book. I do know it was connected to a cigarette company and the best thing was it was free. You had to send in a certain number of cigarette packet fronts or something, possibly a postal order for postage but it was a bargain. Pre internet days and no real live tv coverage this book was much sought after every season, it really was a Godsend. For some reason I still can't remember how, my dad, who wasn't a smoker, had a contact somewhere who could get plenty of these packet fronts. I was very popular with my mates as we all got a book every season. A great memory.
