United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Heard that excuse so many times. It's mad most, if not all of the Blues I know go to the match, all the rags I know can't get a ticket.
Theyve gone from “cant get a ticket”, to “prem football isnt the same any more”, to “i much prefer grass roots” whilst jumping on some other band wagon.

I know loads that go to county now, coincidently since countys up turn in fortunes

Needy, weak willed pricks

Or I've lost interest. Very weak indeed. Liverpool fans no different, my ex brother in law in Wales, not from Liverpool, when they weren't doing that well. I asked him if he'd been to Anfield lately. He stated he wasn't going to go and watch that crap to which I replied that it was a good job that me and my mate and all City fans kept going when we were absolutely gash because if we had an attitude like you we'd be fucked.

Nearly all the post-derby analysis has concentrated on the rags , and Amorim's, failings. City have had to settle for sneering assertions that we're a long way from our best. Most City fans realise that we may have to wait before we ever get back to the levels of the treble winners - if indeed we ever do. And on Sunday our passing was not the quickfire, one touch, accurate version of the past and some of it was sloppy. But then this is a different team to that of two years ago, and it made a right mess of a rag team which has shown "clear and obvious progress" from last season. If we look at City more closely we can see that the spine of the team is strong, experienced and NOT old; Donnarumma, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodri, Reinders, Foden and Haaland is as good as any other in the PL, and when some of our purchases and youngsters are considered the outlook seems very bright. How bright for this season we don't know, and whether we'll dominate in the way we did in Pep's first ten years can't be foretold but I bet we'll all enjoy going to watch City .... and we'll certainly look forward to, and enjoy, derby day!
It was ever thus.

After the Maine Road Massacre, the last Maine Road derby, the Munich air disaster 50th anniversary game, the Sick Swan, it was all about how badly the rags played, and very little, if anything, about how good we’d been in ALL of those games.

It’s been said many times before, but the "wonderful" sports media in this country is obsessed with the rags.

They've watched or heard about his shaky debut game last season and written him off.

If some of these morons told me today was Tuesday I'd check the calendar.
It was a shaky debut ten minutes.

After that, I thought he did well, and has done well ever since.

Just watched MOTD and heard that stat that City and United after all their derbies over years are level on goals scored! 278 goals each. That is one mad stat.
I thought that as well.

After the dominant eras of Sir Matt and the pisscan, I thought that the rags would still be well ahead on goals scored.

Plus the strange thing about when we were sliding/falling from the 1st tier into the 3rd tier, and the lowest in point in our club's history. It seemed the worse we got, the more folk came to watch us, it really was bizzarre.

Played well but he has to stop diving in recklessly- did it twice at least today and cost us at Brighton
I'd rather see that rather than defenders standing off and watching the ball hit the back of the net. That's what was happening all too often last season. Sure, he's not going to get them all right but even in his debut match he saved a near certain goal not long after the "mistake".

He made two great tackles he didn’t dive in at all totally under control What cost us at Brighton was not defending the free kick cleanly and a bozo handball then astonishing bad defending for the winner started by a mistake from Jonny Stones

Exactly. I keep hearing from Blues and pundits about City lack of possession and we won't get away with this performance against the better sides which could well be true, but can't we just enjoy the win and ignore the noise. City played some good stuff at times, especially the first and second goals. It's going to take time we need to be patient.
We played similar against Wolves, and done it intermittently for certain game over the years. I wish we played it more, covering our defensive frailties whilst allowing out successful forwards to do their thing.

It opens the space.

Don’t forget our dominate eras, including this one. They are ahead by 18 more wins overall, however it is clear that when we win we like to do so by a margin! 2 6-1s illustrate that.

I am pretty sure the 18 more wins used to be more like 30 before the takeover, whilst the Merseyside tally used to favour the red dippers by something like 18, the gap there now is just over 30. It’s almost like the balance of history in the two northern cities counter each other.

It was almost like we will show you all what a proper fan base is.
