25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

Nope, the corner was in-swing, so if the header went in, it would have counted as a legitimate goal. The one that was whistled was from Højlund’s offside!

i think the offside whistle was purely for follow-up reasons, the linesman's position makes it hard to judge if Hojlund was in front of Donnarumma or not, i'm pretty sure VAR would have allowed a goal if it had gone in. Decent save.

Yep. And people act like Pep has never won a trophy playing out from the back with anyone other than Ederson. Neuer managed it. Valdez managed it. Every one of our second choice keepers managed to win League and FA Cups playing out from the back. All of these players are merely decent with their feet. Eddie's passing was like a cheat code at times, but let's not pretend that it's impossible to play this way without him.

Exactly. Edersons playmaking ability was an added bonus and a different angle to work from. Playing out from the back isn't some insanely difficult thing to do. They can do that without relying on their GK as heavily to be involved in the build-up.

The Guy is world class, it was pretty hilarious when people were (weirdly) acting like the World was ending because We were signing a keeper "that can't play with his feet" and how it wasn't fair to Trafford... crazy stuff.

It is quite amusing how some attitudes have changed when, in truth, Gigio has not done that much (that is not a criticism of him: he has done what he needed to). He does carry an aura about him though, which supporters and players feel.

I am sure he will have some bad moments but he could very quickly become one of the most popular players in the team. I have long hoped that one day he would end up at City so I am hopeful that under City’s coaching staff, he will continue to develop into an absolute monster of a keeper.

People on here completely dismissed him before he even got here.

To be fair, I think a lot of that was down to loyalty to Eddie, and "how dare this guy come in and replace a legend" sort of thing. But legends move on;Sergio, Pablo, Vinnie, Dave, Kev, Kalvin. But the club carries on, and we remain. If Gigi carries on the way he's started, he'll do for me.

Nicely done Jim. Kalvin rarely gets the credit he deserves on here.

Nobody talking about the million pound a week hes costing city
Maybe get small mention in today's game
I haven't seen any mention of that salary in the media, who would normally go into a feeding frenzy on such things. And I would be seriously sceptical about that figure. Isn't Haaland the biggest earner at the club, and (TTBOMK), he isn't on that salary.

It's why rags didn't buy him though
