It's the worlds worst kept secret we have been complaining about it for a few seasons as have other sides. It didn't need any investigative journalist "Getting all shoestring", just a credit card no fuss made.

If the rumour is true about off site eating and the restaurant owned by Pep and his mates I would be more disappointed.

The club care if someone else is making a few quid at their expense or a ticket is being passed to someone else at face value they could sell on for additional profit to a reseller site.

Away fans in home ends, fan experience being eroded, local fans missing out, zero concern.

Had a phone call from City today in response to me reporting my son’s derby ticket being sold on a to a tout site. Had a decent conversation with them.

They advised the ticket had been bought and then sold on by an individual who met the criteria to buy. Also said the person had seven other accounts linked to them and they had removed all their accounts. They were aware of the use of bots to grab tickets as soon as they are put on sale.

I had suggested that the club had sold on directly to a tout site but they said they do not do that for seats returned on Ticket Exchange.

I know people reading this may be skeptical about that explanation but I can only pass on what was said.

The person I spoke to added it was important that fans could trust Ticket Exchange and know the club are clamping down on any individuals who sell to tout sites.
I mentioned the BBC article and questioned why City had declined to comment. I wasn’t surprised the reply was it wasn’t within the remit of the person I was speaking to but he did say he would feed that back to those who make those decisions.

...I've said it on here before, but whilst "city fans wouldn't sell to touts" might be true, there are many touts who live amongst the city membership and season ticket holders with enough tickets and points to purchase any spares and sell them on. That's how they work. It's now down to the club to root these people out. Instead they seem to be doing it by making it hard to sell tickets on, and disrupting genuine fans in the process.

So without any proof the club deleted accounts of seven people who may have had no knowledge of what the other person did?

Sounds very unlikely.

Did they say how it was possible for a fan / tout to buy it and then sell it on?

To buy a ticket you must have a membership, once the ticket is bought it goes in to the members matchday pass, they do not receive a link and that ticket cannot be transferred?

I have been banging on about this for the last few seasons when others keep blaming the fans for selling them on.

People claiming that City are clamping down on the (illegal) unauthorised sale of tickets, while stuffing tickets on illegal and unauthorised sites need to think this through.

Personally I think the club should stop using any 'authorised' third-parties but I'd say it's ridiculous to think they're using unauthorised ones putting them at risk of potential criminal prosecution.

Well clearly they identified accounts linked to the culprit and felt they had enough proof to act.

You're a sensible poster but you can't complain that the club needs to crack down on unauthorised ticket sales then complain when they do exactly that.

I don't believe the story to be honest. It seems very judge dredd without proper investigation and too much details have been shared.

The main question is how did the club know it had been sold on? The club do funny things with the exchange then lie about it, and I have pretty solid proof when I have questioned them.

The first one is when tickets don't appear on the exchange for over a day but haven't been sold, and the bizarre explanation I was given - Club "they are there just I can't see them". The second is when they have been sold and they allowed them to be returned due to the club reducing prices of the tickets they sell and a customer wanting to swap them 2/3 days before the game - "someone had attempted to but them". Which explains why they were relisted a week later despite email confirmations they were sold.

The selling and putting them back on doesn't happen now within the last 7 days, which is fair enough with the returns policy, but they did allow it to happen in 2021/22. The basketing of tickets for 12 hours plus and not selling still happens, whether they do this for telephone sales so they have them ready or offsite packages if sold, I don't know. I still use it as a last resort but have low confidence it.
 
Without being daft why do City not take over the whole exchange side a sell directly to a City member ??????
Are they not bothered that your normal City fan who loves the club is being priced out by a plastic rat ?????
Thing i hate the modern game at the top level ......... if we are in the pub and a spare comes up its normally given on a free to some lad who cannot get a ticket or just want to go for a few beers with his mates at the game.

Sadly its the modern game and dont get me wrong love to be at the top table but there is a lot that puts me off about it sadly

I've not mentioned them being put on any unauthorised sites.
City put them out to their ticketing partners, it's what happens to them then, is anyones guess.

Yes, but at least City are open about their 'authorised' resellers. I'd prefer they didn't use these outlets but there are some on here ludicrously claiming City deliberately and regularly pass tickets directly onto unauthorised, touting websites.
