The Rise of the Far Right

I am coming to the conclusion that things are going to seriously kick off in the next few years. These horrible cunts are yet another manifestation of the decline of western hegemony. We are going to get poorer and life is going to get harder, I fear.

There will be lots of anger and fear.

All the progress I saw in my life seemed to end about the time of the credit crunch. It’s been one step forward, two steps back since then. Can’t see that changing for the foreseeable.

I do think Reform will miss out on winning the next GE, but not by a huge margin, and principally because of tactical voting.

And that won’t make the problem go away.
Four years is a long time to maintain a lie and it's an eternity to maintain momentum and it's momentum that's sustaining this shit show, coz as sure as hell it ain't policy, neither Farage or Robinson have policies worth shit.

We need a bit of luck as well, a wet winter and no flare up incident.

We could do with a deft political operator in No 10, unfortunately....

I’m convinced FPTP has brought us to this place.

Doing ok on the world stage. Let's see.

I' m sorry to say that anybody who watched the Election Debate with Starmer and Rishi should have been very concerned. For a Party with the record they had after 14 years and the supposed sharp mind of a lawyer Starmer's performance was terrible. He should have wiped the floor with him but failed to do so. They need a change of leadership. Anyone who relies on a policy of stop the gangs to solve the immigration issue clearly inhabits another world

The huge number of Union Jacks and St George crosses is disconcerting. My own experience of this mess is centred around my dad. He is 68 and my memory of him when I was younger was as a fairly liberal, open minded Labour voter. In recent years he has gone down a right wing rabbit hole. Farage and Tommy Robinson are his heroes and he went to London last week on the march. I personally feel deeply ashamed about this as his values are the polar opposite of mine. Friends of mine have similar stories about their parents. I don't know whether we are at a tipping point as a nation or if all this is predominantly an older demographic that will just be replaced by a younger, more liberal demographic over the next couple of decades.

My works takes me all round the country. I’ve been astonished to witness the number of flags I’ve seen in the last few weeks.

Working class and middle class areas alike.

I’ve not seen that many in my area of Nottinghamshire, aside from today driving into my village, there’s a standalone house and whoever lives there has put two poles on the front with a Union Jack and St George’s flag on them. Thing is though I thought whoever lived there was American as they had a Trump banner up when the US election was on.

Saw loads of them on motorway bridges driving back from Portsmouth a couple of weeks ago.

Do you know the Red House at Broughton and Old Darby? Went to a wedding there in 2005. Fantastic day.

I do, used to be one of our favourite pubs, you mean Nether Broughton, near Old Dalby? It got converted into a house a few years ago annoyingly, I used to drive past it every day.

There’s a pub in Upper Broughton called the Tap and Run that’s owned by Stuart Broad. It burned down a few years ago, they rebuilt it and now it’s got “the second innings” on the sign. Every time I drive past it, I think he missed a trick and should have called it “The Ashes”!

I think that’s a different debate. He’s plainly not doing it because of his fear of life changing too much. The government need to get a grip of this. Or it could spiral out of control.

He is doing it for votes and because no party can ignore the issue any longer or should I say, dismiss it with the usual barbs directed at those who feel strongly on it.
