You’re not wrong. Trump had already set things in motion and if Biden would have reversed it, tens of thousands of additional troops would have had to return to Afghanistan which was politically impossible. People blaming Biden either have short memories or don’t realise that Trump effectively signed a surrender deal with the Taliban, thereby abandoning the Afghan government which fell even before the withdrawal was complete.

As well as abandoning allies in Afghanistan he also abandoned the Kurds in Syria. Abandoning allies to score a few cheap political points is fairly routine for Trump and not enough was made of it at the time. He’s also trying his best to get Ukraine to surrender to Russia and his commitment to NATO is open to question.

Democracy depends on consent. The American constitution survived because people in power and the population generally consented to it. The moment consent is lost, democracy starts to fail. It is a delicate beast. Trump has simply withdrawn consent to the constitution to do as he pleases. The Maga followers accept this, the GOP in Congress accept this, SCOTUS accepts this. Redistricting red state governors accept this.
Now we are witnessing the acceptance of this by the major media, much of which is owned by Maga supporting billionaires.
If the people generally accept this, all is lost. Mass demos are the only weapon. The people must take to the streets and make Trumps regime unworkable. Seriously, this is the last hope for the USA, unless you believe there will be free and fair elections at the mid term. I don’t think that is likely.

Not only that, but Trump had ZERO understanding of the logistics needed to withdraw from the longest war in American history and set a ridiculous “leave everything behind and get on a plane” type deadline!

When Biden got in, the commanders on the ground told him they needed more time and the U.S. had to NEGOTIATE AN EXTENSION just to get as much out as they could!

In the end, even that was a disastrous rush job, so you can only imagine what it would have been, but even then the Right Wing crucified Biden because someone in the crowd walked up to the Army Guards and detonated an IED!

It’s not that they have short memories, it’s that they’re deaf, dumb and blind to reality!

We in the west have a fight on our hand to protect democracy. I knew how bad Trump would be, But didn’t know he’d get the power this easily to pull down the very fabric of western democracy.

Not sure if you remember or not, but I was screaming about it in ALL CAPS…and getting pellets for using CAPS!!

As soon as I saw Project 2025 and that the Christian Nationalists had managed to get JD Vance the VP slot, I knew we were not only fucked on a daily basis by “flooding the zone,” but the President was going to give over the Constitution to the Radical Christian Right to reshape the country by EO and court challenges in front of our Christian Nationalist SCOTUS majority!

The Federalist Society and the Judicial Crisis Network (JCN), with significant involvement from Leonard Leo, a White House adviser and executive vice president of the Federalist Society, have spent the last two decades deconstructing the Constitution by looking at what have been “accepted norms” and what has been actual hard legislation that needed challenging.

Norms have simply been run over, and any notion of legal challenge laughed off. Legal challenges have been accelerated to SCOTUS, because the majority believes in the “unitary executive theory,” which argues that because the Constitution vests all executive power solely in the President, he has full control over the executive branch without interference, including the authority to remove executive officials and make decisions independently within the executive sphere.

Throw in a Congress run by a Christian Nationalist that, because Trump has given them free rein, allows Trump to run roughshod over Congressional decisions, power of the purse and even legislative oversight of both the purse and the Cabinet, and it’s a trifecta many of us saw as the end of America as we all knew and understood it!

And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, because of America’s widely considered leadership in global and military affairs, Trump’s isolationism is causing ripples, and possible tsunamis, across the globe.

Many believe his intransigence has given Putin an even greater impetus to flex, with that now stretching to Poland and the Baltics, and Xi the green light to do as he pleases with Taiwan and in the South China Sea and beyond. Meanwhile, his buddy in North Korea is getting nuclear subs from Russia, which got military personnel and munitions for its war in Ukraine in return!

And the US response from Trump???

Said he needs it because it’s only a 1 hour flight from where Chinese nukes are made…as if he is ever going to EVER launch an airborne assault on Chinese nuclear facilities! Who does he think he is? Netanyahu??
