Arsenal (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I also used to enjoy those types of City performances against top opposition in the Mancini era . Sort of brought back great memories today . Well done Pep going all Mancini ! Who would have thought that ?
CTID

Exactly my thoughts. It was a great watch... a good point earned against of our toughest opponents on their own turf.

Gutsy point that which Id have happily bought before the game. Khusanov, O'Reilly and Doku were notably excellent and the keeper gives us a much more solid last line of defence.

Reducing the football snobs Arsenal to long throws and long punts was quite funny - as was their idiotic fanbase cryarsing about time wasting. Irony remains lost on them.

Disappointing that with about 23 defenders on the field we conceded to a long punt to 1 lone runner but it is what it is. The key is to win the fixtures we have coming up and see where we are after 10 games have been played.

Have to be happy with a point after that.
I would have took one before the match and it felt deserved at the final whistle.
Pity we couldn't hang on for all three but at least our defence is looking a lot better and organised.
For all their possession they didn't create too many chances and their goal was created from a long ball which is slightly disappointing .
Having Donnarumma in nets and not panicking every time we're facing a corner or set piece is also a blessing.

Hanging on to his job? Are we really at that stage. Your replacement is who?

Last Sunday morning I would have snapped your hand off for this week’s results. There is a lot to still improve and this group of players are not the quality of recent years. But hanging on…?
Anybody who wants to manage us playing CA football, plenty of candidates home an abroad.

We all have different views on the state of our current team and my view is this is the most un-Pep team we ever had, so I have right to ask myself what is the point of sticking with Pep and going through all this contract extensions.

Unless I follow ever more prevailing attitude here that after 18 years in management he is turning into prime Mourinho or Conte at the end of his City career.

Didn't he say himself that one of the reasons he extended his contract was because he didn't want to leave when we were in such bad form.

Be careful what you wish for pal.

the spine of our team - GG, Gvardiol, Rodri, Haaland is class

the rest of them though arent half a mixed bag.

why the hell cant we keep the ball anymore? moving away from tiki taka just isnt man city sorry. today we were bossed by arsenal, even before the goal they had more of the ball and its not a plan thats gonna work long term.

Reijnders, Dias, Doku, Savinho, Gonzales, Marmoush, Nunes, Lewis, Ake and tbh Bernie if you put them under pressure they will lose the ball.

I really like AK45, I think he's a cross between Kyle Walker and Stuart Pearce with his speed and tackling, and had a great first half, especially that tackle in the opening few minutes. Donnarumma did well again, Doku worked hard and I've seen a change in Haaland these past few games, actually winning headers against centrebacks from goal kicks, playing well in defence from set pieces and putting himself about more. I'm perplexed by Peps continued adoration of Bernado Silva though, I thought he looked absolutely knackered after 60 mins and I would've preferred to see Gonzalez replace him to stiffen midfield defensively a bit more and try to protect 0-1. Once Haaland was off, I didn't think we had much of an outlet on the break which led to them pushing on without fear of being caught out which I'm not keen on... I'd have taken a draw at 1615hrs, I wanted the win at 1820hrs...

That set up, tactics and the performance on the whole could only be justified if we nicked all three points.

I am not enjoying this team and football we are trying to play.

It looked ok against shit United and 10 men Napoli, but I don't see the point of Pep hanging on to his job having us played like glorified Crystal Palace and hoping to stay top four contenders, what is the best this team can achieve.

But it was funny to see so many disgruntled Ars fans on the way out of home end.
Let’s see how we look after the next 10 games.

O'Reilly & Khusanov played really well. I liked how well the team defended for most of the game. Erling took his goal well, but if he had passed it to Foden when we had the other chance then we might have put the game to bed. Doku had a not bad chance too and played well.

Today was the most unlike Pep preformance I've seen since he's been here. It was really weird to watch.

I'm all for being pragmatic but it was worrying that we couldn't string more than 3 passes together or keep the ball for large parts of the game, just hoofing it away to let Arsenal attack again. It would have helped if we could have kept the ball a bit better.

It was like a training game for most of today where you play defence against attack and just let the other team keep coming forward. For all the possession we allowed Arsenal to have they didn't really create that much. They are like a Tony Pulis team, they even had a towel at the side of the pitch to dry the ball for the long throws today.

Overall not a bad result but a very different type of City performance under Pep.

Also not sure what's going on with our throw ins, need to work on them in training, we seem to give it away nearly every time at the moment.
