Burnley (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Liverpool are making hard work of all their points, they got their comeuppance yesterday. If we put a good run together (a big IF I know) we will catch them.
And a good run doesn't need to be the heroics or 15 in a row or whatever. Win all our games and beat Liverpool at home and everything is wide open up until Christmas.

Great result
Flattering however scoreline

1st half especially poor and sloppy
2nd half better but still not great.

Doku and foden definitely stand out players. Rest were pretty average

Sav was poor. Reijnders needs some serious work especially on his application off the ball....and his intensity levels.

With the scousers losing however that could prove a very important result but there is a real lack of quality at present...we are a moments team at present....just need consistency from quite a few players
Haaland scored 2 and got an assist.

Title-winning sides win a lot of games by having a stable defence and enough stardust in the team so that there's usually 2 players who produce stellar standout performances to win games.

We have Foden, Doku and Haaland who can produce match-winning moments. Time will tell if we can add Rodri, Marmoush and Cherki to that.

You need to stop commenting on football for a while. All good sides are moments team, and pretty average in between.

Think the scoreline flatters us a bit but i'll take it all day. We played well enough to comfortably win but not sure it was a 5-1 game.

Doku the clear standout.unplayable again even though walker did a relatively decent job on him. Nice confidence booster and lets hope the scoreline can see us turn up the level another notch now and get a run going. We've got a favourable list of fixtures now and we should be looking to pick up maximum points.
I agree. We just need the attacking options off the bench, which Cherki and Marmoush would give us. I also think a fully fit Kovacic is needed especially while Rodri is still getting up to speed.

I don't know who any of these f'kers are, but they're Know Nothing cnuts.

Guardiola can't adapt...?

Pundits?

Today all you hear is what they want rather than Any insight.

Give them all 10 grand and they have to put it on the nail and you'll get honest opinions not this drivel they spew now.

Rewatched the game and I think we played really well for the most part. Burnley had a couple of decent spells of possession, precipitated by a few loose passes/touches and were fairly decent at circulating the ball. However, I think we controlled the game well. Nico G was very good, Doku was excellent, Savinho did well enough with limited possession, Nunes was great going forwards. Don’t think anyone underperformed.

Doku would probably get more assists if people didn't make the same runs in the box - the cut back is nearly always on.

Why do some fans do that, weird.

Just enjoy your day out
I always seem to cop for the knob head opposition fan contingent who board the tram at Piccadilly Gardens. Banging the tram ceiling and singing some tasteless song about Jack Walker dying. Tosspots.

Who listens to this crap ? It's so anti-Manchester City and they don't even try to hide it

Guardiola can't adapt ? adapt to what ? Pep and Manchester City have to beat the system first and foremost unlike the scum red tops, Just go and look at the Liverpool goal yesterday being allowed to stand after the clearest handball since Maradona, City and Pep never once got given a title or a game

The first 25 minutes very good although Doku seems our only creative outlet, followed by our (now usual) disappearance act for the rest of the 1st half, the second half didn't start better, but our sheer quality compared to them prevailed.

Foden really good, even exciting, when around the box, but annoyingly overcoached by Pep with his meaningless short back passes when positioned deeper, like when he passed the ball to one of their player towards the end of the half.

Savin(h)o needs something new in his footballing life and City it is not, he is now in streak of games flatlining with no quality or output whatsoever. Looks to me right now like one of those South American players coming to Europe with fanfares just to bomb back to Brazilian league. Even youth is not excuse for being so...nothing.

And his not lucky to play alongside Doku, I think all of Burnley defence ended with PTSD issues.

My last home game for some time as I am doing my hernia operation next Saturday, so 5:1 really brought some good and positive feelings and it is going even better if we manage to bum former Bernardo's team.

I think a lot of fans have been patient. I think he has been steadily improving. He plays with his head up now and picks out passes. Pep has clearly been working his magic. Sadly Sav has gone the other way.
I dont think he has steadily improved over the first two years, consistently inconsistent.

If we are being honest this bout of form has come from nowhere, and whilst I sincerely hope it continues, we have to get some perspective.

I will get excited when it's 6 months of good form, not a few games.

The match day thread was its usual disgraceful self. Filled with posts from utter bellends who have never forgiven this club for being taken over and ruining their self-deluded street cred that “we support a team that wins nothing. Aren’t we cool?”

Twitter is far far worse. One prolific poster who seemingly only uses City to sell tee-shirts “for good causes” and never has a good word to say about the team and a veritable plethora of other wankers.

I get double the high when we win. The natural high of winning a game o football and the extra high of knowing the team has just ruined a good few thousand “City fans” weekend’s.

I honestly believe we should ban the match day thread. It’s just that bad.
what a load of utter tosh, try and get over yourself pal
I hear you, but it can't be any worse than the post-match after we drop points. Sick and tired of these morons who want Pep and (insert name of player who didn't have his best game here) out, everyone from Doku, Nunez, Gonzalez, Bernardo etc. etc. etc., absolutely clueless morons who know nothing about football and don't deserve to be able to watch this club. I can't say "don't deserve to support" because they're not supporters in my view.
Oh dear, don't forget your Calpol before bedtime

Unfortunately I wasted 10 minutes of my life listening to this Talkshite drivel.

Not sure who the moron is who was 'I'm not disrespecting Pep..' and then persistently goes on disrespecting Pep? Comparing Pep to the decline of Messi and Ronaldo..what?
Another z-list pundit with a myopic opinion, who is desperate to be the first to say 'see I told you I was right about Pep...'. Unfortunately there are some of our fans who take this approach

'Ferguson's genius was to adapt over so many years... blah blah'. His 'genius' was that he was an overbearing bully, who also had an unbelievable advantage in the transfer market. Admittedly he was an excellent motivator and he was wise enough to know he was an awful coach, therefore he had to replenish his backroom staff regularly. But his record in Europe was very poor considering

Every club has nob heads including City. Looking on the Bee Hole End, Burnleys forum after Ricky Hattons death it was full of respect you'd have thought it was Blue Moon. Lived in Burnley for two years back in the day good Lancashire folk just. Like Mancs. In Burnley if your a football fan your a Claret unlike most small Lancy towns were nearly everyone follows the gruesome twosome. Moreover they usually give 6 points a season whats not to like
