RNo. Burnley, wolves, west ham are all currently below them and are worse. Then probably Sunderland, leeds, Brentford too and possibly even forest will all be expected to be below United.

United will be around the upper lower half of the table like last year but miles away from any genuine danger of relegation.
rag....

Don’t spoil the fun ninja

It’s getting harder and harder to see how they dig themselves out of this malaise. They really do only have one player who anyone might call “world class” and he is a pouty fuck who barely shows up half the time. From there, a few players with promise, but there appears to be zero cohesion, little belief in the manager (who looks like he’s on suicide watch half the time), and an owner who screams “save money on the plebs!” while spunking £200M on a completely unproven forward line…having fucked off the last round of expensive forward talent and Rashford!

It’s going to take a serious manager, who can bring in a spine for the team to build around, strict standards of behavior and a playing style that even remotely suggests they might be able to turn the corner to become a European contender.

It looks like a serious challenge which I hope they are Ill-equipped to address!

Anybody name a manager in the world who would be capable of turning around the shit show ?

I think he's done a good job of cutting off his nose to spite his face. Every successful manager has the ability to chop and change formations, to adapt to the opposition. Keeping them guessing. Coming out second half with a different formation.

Amorim has given away his formation for the entire season. You can train all week on how to catch them out. He's not going to do anything different. Even after half time when 2-0 down, he won't change it.

This is the definition of insanity. Repeating the same mistakes, over and over, and expecting a different outcome.

In the derby, that last goal. Their entire team was in City's half. One ball over the top and Haaland was clean through on goal. Brentford's first goal was identical. They were probably practicing that move all week. They are so easy to suss out. It is suicide to keep playing the same way and making no efforts to change or prevent it from re-occurring.

Come 2nd November, when his severance pay drops from 12m to 4m he is gone. So there's another 4 weeks of this comedy to come.
In a way ou could say the same about Pep, although he has the ability to change & his system has been hugely successful, teams know that he sets up 4-3-3, they set up to defend deep & hit us on the counter while defending on the halfway line

The problem for them is that they had a manager, who was a force of nature, that regularly got extraordinary performances out of often ordinary players, played a simple but effective system and had the players to make the most of that system.

That brought sustained success in an era where there really wasn't much competition. Wenger was probably the only manager who came close, and both were given a long-term platform to build on. Baconface did it for a good few years even under the Glazers (but I know he wasn't happy with them).

That success spoiled them though and they thought they had an entitlement to it. And when the success wasn't repeated, they changed the manager regularly instead of giving them the same platform they gave Ferguson, with a chance to rebuild. And now they've got a mish-mash of a squad bought by various managers over the last few years without any coherence. It's not easy to change a mismatched squad on 5-year contracts when the manager might only get 12-18 months.

If they think Amorim's system will be effective then they have to give him at least 3 seasons, because that's the minimum time it takes to get a squad the way a manager wants it.
But their fanbase want instant success

if you are talking about ratboy, he isnt world class, he is just a good player in a sea of shit and that is all, he is a good player and that is all, he isnt close to being world class nor will he ever be.
If he was world class, he wouldn’t ever have signed for the rags, as one of the big teams would have signed him.

The table has been fairly safe for big clubs in recent years. Generally 3 or 4 recently promoted sides getting low 30s points. You were safe at 36 points. In 2023/4 you only needed 26 to be safe.

There is no reason this can't swing back with a much more competitive bottom 6 clubs all winning games. Wolves look lost right now, maybe Burnley as well won't go on a run, but I can see every other team doing OK. Its very plausible that to be safe you need close to 40 and if that happens big clubs will get dragged in.

tbf wolves were very unlucky not to get a result at spuds

Even with the money they have taken out, they could have still invested in infrastructure but they preferred to waste it on wages & transfer fees. Their fan base wouldn't be mentioning the Glazers if they were winning the major trophies. Look at the dippers fan base who have gone very quiet about wanting FSG out now that Liverpool have won the premier league & thrown money at players
The more money you have, the better the quality of player you can afford.
The rags have spent big, but not wisely.....

Blue tinted glasses off, there's an argument that none of their post-bacon chops managers have been terrible. Chopping and changing the manager every 5 minutes isn't going to solve their problems as the rot is much higher up.

Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho - looking at it objectively these are not stupid guys or crap managers.
Their first post-pisscan mistake was sacking Gollum, as they arrogantly thought they should have qualified for the Champions League with the shockingly poor squad that Moyes inherited from the Govan bully

My vision is not blinkered at all, i will admit world class when the term is applicable but for him its not even applicable when you put quotation marks around it, even if you take out the moodiness and going missing constantly on a purely talent level he just simply isnt there and thats nothing to do with him playing for the rags or not, the term world class is banded about too loosely to be honest and there isnt that many world class players, kdb, yaya and silva were, currently in the pl salah and van disney were but have fallen off a bit this season, donnaruma is and phil could be, im not sure arsenal have one world class player albeit they do have some very very good players.
