TV Series

Re Alien Earth, the series creator introduced the 4 other species as if it just had the xenos it would be a 2 hour film, rather than an 8 hour series. In other words the new species broaden out the world of the show rather than just being monster of the week fare.

I'll just completely contradict myself now by saying the most successful aspects of the show have been to do with the crash of the Maginot, and how this recreated the first movie. So does that mean I just want a rehash of alien/aliens? No, cos I think the new species have been really positive, from those disgusting blood ticks, metal sucking alien flies that can wreck synths, eyeball monster (MVP imho), moving plant pod as well as the xenos.

I think placing this series just 2 years before the original film makes things needlesslly complicated. In the films we've heard of synths, but certainly not of hybrids, equally no mentions of Prodigy Corporation or Boy. Therefore at the eventual end of the series does it just reset to what we know?

Gotta ask though, how can Weyland collect 5 different species using a specialist science crew possibly up to 65 years before the Nostromo gets directed to land on LV426? They make home (nearly) and get undone by sabotage and stupidity.

If FTL drives are due to be invented any day now in the series, What's to stop the company sending a state of the art ship and crew to round up some more critters? So many questions!

You know, I forgot it was supposed to be set before the first film. I think the writers forgot, too!

I didn't link it at all, just made it it's own separate entity cos, logically, some of it doesn't go together at all!!

I agree with you on 'The Eye' as I've been singing its creation praises from day one! Yes, the potential is awesome. I just hope the writers aren't afraid to go wherever they need to with it.

The next series (there's guarantee it will get one due to viewing numbers) is crucial and they can't rush it.

Yeah they could go quite a few ways with the story. I would want it to go the way of a journey that is enforced on them by the eye back to his planet and maybe that’s where the Alien live also? Just because it called Alien Earth they’ll probably stay put on Earth where the androids and the Aliens go rampant, but then again this is Earth and the film was two year later and there was no alien on the planet and maybe that what the ship of the original film went into space for to find these Aliens again!?

Just hope it’s not 18/24 months before the next season?!

Watched Black rabbit. Really enjoyed it. obvious comparison because of Bateman who is excellent but it does feel reminiscent of Ozark.

I have a two glaring problems in episode 7 though. Some major spoilers ahead
when Mancuso wanted juniors partner, why did the other guy go for Vince's daughter whilst they went to the jewel dealer when at that point, they had zero idea who it was and he was under the impression Vince was long gone before this?

Also the daughter refusing to leave is just total horseshit. They dont come up with something even semi-believable. Refusing to leave when being told her and others lives are at threat simply because you dont want to do what your dad did is a really poor reason for such a key plot point

Just finished, highly recommended

Watched the first episode of the new series of Slow Horses last night.

Was a pretty intense start with the opening 'incident'.

I think I'm going to save it until all episodes are released though. The previous series have been brilliant, albeit the first had a slow start. Oldman is fantastic as always and there's a great script and some really light-hearted moments to go with the intense action and politically poignant themes.

Just felt watching the first one in isolation didn't work quite as well. I need to binge the thing when it's all released!
The comedy mayors really bugged me in the first episode. It felt a bit cheap and obvious in comparison to the rest of the series.

Alice in borderland season 3. It shits all over squid games. The final game and last 2 episodes were a major disappointment though. Just boring and way too dull. Obviously the game plays out how it does because its a TV show but the concept of the final game was so crap, the entire thing could have been over incredibly quickly with absolutely no drama with the tiniest bit of luck, which is not in line with the rest of the games, there were also so many inconsistencies.

only jsut been getting into Brassic the last couple of months, half way through S5, really enjoying it overall, rly good mix of humour and warmth, some bits that get too chaotic i dont like but a quality show overall
