With the money they’ve spent, it has to click at some point. You can’t throw £500 million at a squad and not compete - it just doesn’t happen. The real question is how long it will take them to actually find a way of playing.

Right now, Wirtz looks like he’s unsettled the balance of the team. Salah is playing far too selfishly and doesn’t put in the defensive shift he used to, while Gakpo off the ball doesn’t give the same cover to the defence that Luis Díaz did. Then there’s the Ekitike situation, where does he even fit if Isak is nailed on starter through the middle?

At the back, Konate already looks like he’s got his eyes on Madrid, Kerkez has been really poor, and Frimpong is pushing so high that it leaves a huge gap in behind. They’re missing TAA’s quality in possession too, that trademark long ball over the top to Salah just isn’t there anymore, and they’re struggling to play through packed defences.

At the moment it all feels like a bit of a mess, very similar to where we were last season.
Man United says, 'hold my beer' ...

Conor Bradley is fast heading for a suspension. He has missed half the season due to injury but in 7 starts for club and country he has 6 yellow cards in all comps. I noticed at the weekend that Slot had to take him off at half time to protect him from getting sent off. Garnacho is not exactly the best left winger he will come up against but he can't even handle him.

The media are focusing on Salah as the problem for Slot but imo their weakest link is their defence.
Many Liverpool fans told me, when they got rid of tta, that Bradley was far superior to tta.
Mmmmm

I was one who thought they would walk it (they still might) but my hope was that so much change may upset the balance of the squad. It looks that way. I think they have spent well for the future and it might be short term pain for long term gain. I just hope we can continue with wins and consistency because I really don't want to see Arsenal win it.

Much rather Arsenal win it than those dipper cunts.

I was looking at the average age of teams a few days ago. Last year there were only about three teams with older squads than Liverpool and ourselves. We're now playing one of the youngest teams, with an average nearly two years younger than last year (and that's with some recent, very young, first team buys on loan).

Liverpool's, in comparison, has only come down by a few months, which is unusual for such a big rebuild.

What is theirs out of interest? Rebuilds are different, we went quite young and inexperienced, certainly in the prem didn't we. They went big and spending that big money and in some areas on proven prem talent that might have been a bit older than the type of players we was looking at.

It was average age of players who played, rather than just the squad. Last year they were 26.7 and we were 26.6. They've dropped to 26 this season, but we're down to 24.9.

They're not massively different numbers, but because it's an average, everyone is clustered in the mid-20s. Take out Chelsea, and there's just 3 years between the lowest and highest, so our drop is huge.

They had a player die and sold one who were both kinda in their prime (ish); we "retired" a few who were nearing the end of their careers.

Don't really like sticking up for the cunts but the situations were a little different.

Their fans would be unbearable.
They have just won the October league again and are already crowing.
Much rather we win it :)
I don’t think any fans are more unbearable than the dippers. But yes, we need to win it, that would shut both sets of fans up.

We could be even younger next year with several to leave like Bernado, Stones, Ake, Ortega, Kova and maybe some youngsters coming in: Echeverri, Bah, Reis, for example.
