Football facts that you didn’t know

In Scotland though st.Johnstone fc
St Johnstone is actually a bit more of a place name than a lot of Scottish clubs.
Perth was known as St Johns Town because of the kirk there.

Hibernian or Heart of Midlothian are a bit more separate.

Weird little facts that i did not know :

1) 1992 European Championship winners Denmark didn’t even qualify for the tournament.
They were called up after Yugoslavia were disqualified

2) Wrexham were founded in 1864 - 16yrs before us

3) Arsenal & Port Vale are the only league clubs that are not named after their location

4) Forest have won the European cup more times than the english league title

5) Barcelona have never beaten Dundee United
Played 2. Lost 2

6) Dave Whelan broke his leg in the 1960 FA Cup Final

Anyone got anymore?
Port Vale changed their name to Burslem Port Vale to reflect their geographical home. Later, they changed it back!
Port Vale refers to the Valley of Ports, a section of the Trent and Mersey canal.
The brickworks there marked their bricks ‘Port Vale’.

West Ham’s old Boleyn ground was in East Ham. It was reputedly named after Ann Boleyn who had a house there.

Nottingham Forest’s City ground is in West Bridgford, across the Trent from Nottingham. The Trent is the city boundary.
More boring factoids about the geographical location of football clubs can be found at www.zzzz.com.

Stoke City supporters still refer to Port Vale as Burslem, in a derogatory, put-down sort of way.

Or they did 20 years ago, when I lived there.

West Ham was their original name. They later changed it to Wet Spam in honour of some fucker on here who pollutes the Var thread.

am i missing something here?

you started a thread about facts that you did not know,
then went on to list a load of facts that you do know,
followed by asking people to list facts that they do not know,
and in turn people list facts that they know.

there are countless facts i do not know.
how am i expected to list them?
madness of the highest order.

Therefore the only legitimate contributions must be to demonstrate that people do not know what they purport to know.

the only thing that could make any sense,
as far as i can gather,
is that every single reply should be along the lines of...

i do not know any facts that i do not know.
(which doesn't really make much sense)

are there any facts that you do not know, jc?
