Re the Saudi takeover or not this made me laugh on redcafe

According to The Athletic, Man United could be sold but also might not be.

According to sources, it depends on the people who might or might not want to buy the club buying it, and whether or not the people who own the club sell it.

Potential buyers include really rich people who sources say are really really rich and could afford the price.

A regularly attended meeting was attended this week, which fuels speculation the club could be sold by an arbitrary date we are publishing, but things could possibly change.

In other news: International week continues

That just about sums up sports news nowadays.

Looks like it's from Janet and John.

Raggies getting excited about a possible takeover by a Middle East outfit including a consortium from UAE, this sounds a bit far fetched that it would be allowed by the rulers when they already have a football club might be wrong of course Anyhow debating about the value of the rags and the fact that Scruffy paid circa $33 per share and the current value being around half that one excited poster said

Why would a consortium from the Middle East offer twice the current value?

Simple ;

1. Man United as a football club are in a false position within the Domestic league, with sound investment, the team should always be a Top 5 Team
2. Man United run properly would always play in European competition each season
3. The opportunity to own one of the most prestigious sporting clubs in the world and the exposure that brings
4. The future financial opportunities provided with a new stadium, a new complex as part of a government backed regeneration program.
5. A new TV/Media rights contract which may allow far more opportunities like VR and clubs hosting their own live events.

Their arrogance is never to be under estimated and long may it reign

United are fucked. :-)

The new independent football regulator has published plans for a licensing regime that it says "will go further than anything currently in place by assessing the full financial picture of a club".

For the first time, all 116 clubs across the top five divisions of the men's game in England will be required to hold a licence to compete from 2027-28.

Being granted one will depend on submitting financial plans, meeting corporate governance standards, and consulting directly with fans on key matters.

Under its proposals, the IFR would have the power to cap clubs' spending, and require them to reduce their debt.

Good.

It’s about time debt was taken into consideration, when penalising clubs for financial irregularities.

Hopefully, the new football regulator will look into the rags finances....

Can they access their Cayman Island accounts? In a bent, gangster, capitalist system, I can't see it happening.

Can the regulator look into the Cayman Islands and Delaware, both Tax Havens that United have used and are using.

United have also got two companies, one carrying the majority of the club debt, but not related to the club, and Manchester United.
