Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

A 1 year reduction isn’t evidence of getting cheaper, let’s see if they retain the rates over the coming seasons. My guess is they saw reduced demand for games they tried selling at vastly inflated prices in the first place (CL was a shambles last season) and foresaw problems filling the extra 7000 seats.

Unfortunately for our owners I just don’t see how we can match the big London clubs for match day income. There are just fewer “occasional” fans living in the region and much fewer tourists who happen to be around at the time. They clearly leave open a number of hospitality packages for such people that often don’t sell if it’s unattractive opposition.

Football is too expensive generally but anyone who has a membership card can now pick up a ticket for most home games for peanuts. A lot of the fair weathered fans have already gone.

Ticket prices have come down this season and credit to 1894 and others. It’s clear the Club have tried to maximise match day income but short termist approach started to fail.

On the main point in the thread. We are already played in the Club World Cup and I don’t watch a minute of the games on TV. Prem Games being played abroad are equally unattractive to me. It sounds like UEFA could ban the latter and they are trying to do so I understand.

I'm pretty sure that cheaper tickets are evidence of cheaper tickets you know. Yes, we'll have to see what happens going forward but I suspect that there's a bit a sea change going on in the background after the protests last season.

Yes, I should have credited 1894 and others for bringing the issue to light. And credit to the club for listening.

I do hope UEFA can get these bans put in place.

“Getting cheaper” suggests further reductions in prices which would be nice but I don’t expect it.

;)

Personally I think we’ll just get a freeze next season.

The club are realising that those extra seats in the new stand will look bad when they are unsold because at the prices they were touting it was ridiculous.

IMHO there was nothing philanthropic or kind about their decision to lower ticket prices slightly, what they need to do now is remove the hoops match-goers have to go through to get a ticket and work out a way how when you do buy a ticket you can sit next to someone you know.

There's no sea change. Soriano will be giving with one hand and taking away with another. He may have got a kick in the bollocks from Khaldoon at the end of last season, but there is no point kicking a **** in the bollocks. It has no effect.

Until Soriano retires, pricing will always be screwed against "legacy" fans and, even then, it will take a serious character with a completely different mindset to change it.

My bigger worry is that when he retires he gets on the board and nothing changes. Ever.

Take your pills, it'll cheer you up.

They need to get the website for buying tickets sorted first. It's a nightmare buying tickets. You ask for one match it says buy now and then you're taken to a completely different match.... in fact a match that has already taken place!!
Sort out the website properly and get some staff on the phones that is half the battle sorted. IMHO

Having a product but not employing enough staff to sell it really is a poor business model :)

I tried to buy 1 for my Mrs, it says she already has to many tickets allocated, when she has none, it is an absolute farce

I'm sure all the reported issues with buying and using tickets are genuine, but not sure why I've never had any issues, ever. Yesterday logged on bought my Bournemouth tickets and my pass is all updated and ready.Don't understand why it can be so different for different users.

I only buy extra tickets very occasionally and I very rarely have issues but I know so many people that do have problems, genuine supporters, so there are problems and I'm sure that the club are aware of this.

For example I sent an email three weeks ago with a query and I got a response on Friday. Luckily it wasn't anything to do with buying tickets at present but it was still a bit of a long time to wait.

I guess until now, like you, I have been lucky but I still think there are too many instances of people having problems and the club maybe should sort it out. As @mexico1970 says 'Having a product but not employing enough staff to sell it really is a poor business model.' But each to their own, you're happy and for the most part I am happy but others are having problems. :-)
