11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Seems to be getting his head up now and not rushing the final ball. Would like to see more of him on the right for us with marmoush/savio on the left
This is the product of growing maturity and world class coaching. The raw talent was there for all to see but the hard work is being put in to harness it.

What is extra exciting is the fact that he is starting to pick passes out from deeper positions. Maybe playing and training with KDB is rubbing off on him.

They will be okay though they can move on to writing Savinho off.
Ha, true true. I’m by no means in the group writing Sav off, but I’m far from convinced about whether he’s got it in him to succeed at City. Whereas with Jezzer, I knew 100% he was top drawer and would improve.

It’s funny to listen to “I told you!” when there was nothing there to see other than a shimmy.

His game, like his age, is maturing as he plays more games at the top level, is getting more
coaching at the top, and is playing with more top level players around him.

In that short clip, there was far more freedom shown than he gets at City, but I think his international performances (and even recently for City) are starting to show that he needs the leash letting out a little so he can maximize his potential at City.

Long may it continue.

P.S. It was very interesting to see the wrinkle in his game where he takes the ball with his back to the man, plays it a yard and turns quickly to face up the defender. From there, he can skin almost anyone. I’ll be looking for that arrow being added to his quiver at City.

We’ll see I have no opinion one way or the other how it will go for Savinho, but he has 2 years on Doku and what seems to have clicked in Doku’s 3 rd season under Pep is his decision making and seeing his team mates, hopefully goals will come. Savinho has the ability whether he can learn like Doku seems to have remains to be seen.
Remember Coman saying when he joined Bayern Pep said to him are you ready to learn how to play football
Found this quote too
Kingsley Coman: “My entire career I was being told I dribble too much, but when Pep Guardiola arrived at Bayern, he was the first coach in my life that told me: ‘We made the entire gameplan so that the wingers can be 1v1. It’s your job to make a difference… if you don’t, you’re out.’”
Journalist: “How was it with you, Riyad?”
Riyad Mahrez: “It’s true! That’s it. He let you have this freedom. There were so many good players around you, we had such great chemistry. It was incredible!”
