Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

Of course being Jewish plays a part in this. The police are scared of another anti semitic terror attack happening. You can’t just ignore that factor and pretend it’s not happening
It's probably only 1% of the factors though, a tiny insignificant number. You can't ignore a country committing genocide and let them get away with it. That will cause a lot of trouble.

A somewhat different tone to what our resident genocide-sympathiser is claiming.

Thanks for sharing.
See, I've always had huge sympathy with the cause of the Palestinian people. I think Israeli foreign policy is abhorrent and the Nethanyahu government is guilty of countless war crimes. I was even chuffed when Starmer recognised the state of Palestine. Absolutely the right thing to do and how can one claim Israel has a right to exist but Palestine does not?

However, I don't equate that to every single Israeli football fan not being allowed to step foot into my city because local members of our community can not control themselves. Would a percentage of Tel Aviv fans be knobheads, absolutely, just like the majority of European fan bases that come to VP looking for trouble. However, anyone even trying to pretend that the threat would be on the local community is utterly kidding themselves. 1000 Tel Aviv fans would be no match for the tens of thousands of young muslim lads that will gather from inner city brum and absolutely pick them off for fun. A few hundred ultras shouting shitty racist chants will not stand a chance & would be mince meat if not protected.

You saw what happens on the streets of Birmingham when groups with anti muslim sentiment threaten to turn up during last years riots, last year, you even had sky news and LBC reporters being chased down streets for having the audacity to turn up and report. I remember listening to reporters absolutely gobsmacked at what they had witnessed, which made me laugh, they have no idea what it's like to live within these parts.

As for it being nothing to do with being jewish. I dare anyone to walk around Witton, parts of Aston, Lozells, Alum Rock, Bordesley Green, Sparkbrook, Sparkhill (I could go on and on and on) with say a kippah. You wouldn't survive. And unfortunately that's what lies underneath the surface of this argument, anyone in denial doesn't live in it and doesn't experience it.

Irrespective of how you view the situation, it seems like the well has already been sufficiently poisoned at this point that you can see this ending up being played behind closed doors or at a neutral venue.

They have caused trouble before, they are high risk, I wouldn't want the cunts at the Etihad, like I wouldn't want other hooligan groups, the police have a duty to ban them if necessary and is not anyones business but theirs

Plenty of teams fans get banned amd always have done, ffs we were banned from Luton and Milwall.

Storm in a teacup being stirred by the usual clowns

It’s very right. Liverpool were given the extra year ban so could not compete in the European Cup as Champions of England. Had another club won the title they would have entered the EC.
Teams were unable to enter the UEFA Cup for a few years more due to UEFA’s co-efficiency covering a 5 year period - the total years of the ban of course. But to imply the ban was lifted solely because United had qualified is nonsense
Thanks Mad Eyed. But you’ve just ruined my conspiracy theory.

Lovely bunch.

Correct - but at the same time what was the pro Palestinian supporter doing in that area at that time and at that day in Greece?
If Rangers were ever to play in Manchester again (and hopefully they won’t) and I walked around the city centre with a placard of the Pope held high, I wouldn’t expect handshakes all round from the pissed up idiots.
I’m not excusing the attack in anyway but at the same time the pro Palestinian demonstrator has to take responsibility for his actions and if you are going to provoke a potentially hostile large group of people then be prepared to suffer the consequences.

We got banned from going to Millwall for being too violent. We never moaned and SWP did a great celebration.

UEFA originally announced an indefinite ban on English clubs with Liverpool having an extra 3 years. The ban was to be lifted when the English fans could demonstrate better behaviour. After the World Cup in 1990 when the fans were largely well behaved UEFA announced a lifting of the ban on English clubs, with Liverpool serving an extra year. This was after nited won the FA Cup. You may want to correct me again on this Mad Eyed, but that’s my memory of why nited were allowed back in Europe early.

They (alone) weren’t allowed “back in early”, the ban was lifted for all but one club and the rags just happened to have won the FA Cup, so qualified for the ECWC.
