I understand both sides here, but what if they were playing in Manchester next week instead of Birmingham? I’d be appalled if they banned them after the atrocity in Prestwich, and I’d want the our police to ensure they could attend and would want our city to stand up together against any attacks or protests.

Surely their fans get held at a meeting point, bused in to the ground and anyone heard singing such songs are arrested and banned from the game. We see that approach for Burnley/Blackburn for example and from what I see it works.

If you believe the cases are equitable, then quite simply, two wrongs don't make a right.
Your argument holds no water.
if you don't believe the two cases are equitable, then we must examine the differences:
The crucial differences are Bob Vylan are English (therefore didn't require passports to Glastonbury,
showed no prior indication that they were going to chant that chant,
are entitled to free speech (however unhelpful/reprehensible) in their own country (particularly, I would argue about an army that is at the very least commiting war crimes in live television) ,
and have zero track record of violence or (in spite of their chanting) effectively inciting violence.
Similarly, Kneecap (who did not chant Death to the IDF, but did chant Free Palestine), through no fault or desire of their own, are classed as British citizens (being born in what even the UK government concedes is a nebulous, if not, disputed territory) - and one member of the band has been tried in British court. The charges didn't stick.
Macabbi fans do (mostly) need to be admitted into Britain.
They will in all likelihood chant anti-Islamic chants - and chants supporting an army which, at the very least, has been committing war crimes on live telly.
Their reputation for violence is deserved, proven and and well earned.
In my opinion, in no way, are you comparing like with like here. This is a safety issue. The authorities in Birmingham have made the call based on decades of experience. They should be supported.
