I can see it in our fanbase too now mate, it's embarrassing how many happy clappers would throw the legacy fans under a bus for the chance of a big game ticket.
The eye opener for me was realising that Chelsea's season ticket holder age demographic was 59, it's not far off being dead unless they can attract new fans with brighter lights but they'll lose the tribalism and the passion.
"lose the tribalism and the passion"
Nail on the head. The game is becoming more prawn sandwich.
Perhaps this is why we haven't made any plans to attend any home games this season for the first time. We normally book a few games up early then add to them as the season goes on. I think the nightmare of trying to get tickets let alone sat together from last season has dampen our sprite.
I dont get that tribalism feeling anymore and I miss it. Ive said a thousand times we do a 12 hour round trip the least I want is to be next to my lad and surrounded by 100% City fans. If I can't get that I'm not doing the trip up, sadly. When I get to the Etihad I want be be surrounded by City fans. I dont want to see a tourist wearing a spuds shirt going into the club shop buy a City shirt to put over the spuds shirt when City are playing Southampton. I thought then ' what the fuck have i just sat in a car for 7hrs for, this isn't what I want' !
Seeing that has really knocked me wanting to travel to games now
