Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

The delightful MP for Aston has said the following: "Those who are not welcome in Aston are hooligans that have a long history of violence and vile racism,"

So on that basis how many other clubs should be banned?

Well Legia Warsaw fans were.

British fans are banned all the time. Many for far less that the Maccabi fans on the social media clips are guilty of. Some on here have been banned from City, and by extension from the league as a whole. How many Maccabi fans were banned by their club after Amsterdam? Their faces are clearly visible in videos. How many have been banned after the derby?

If Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Israeli FA won't act against individuals, it becomes necessary for the countries they "visit" to act in the interest of their citizens and residents. Unfortunately, the tools at their disposal are general and they are applied with a broad brush. Hence ALL Maccabi fans being banned, as they were in Turkey. If Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C. don't like it, they can clean up their act and ban the racist, bigoted, violent individuals that tarnish their club.

The rewriting of history on here is absolutely ludicrous.

I am pretty sure that not one Ajax fan was involved in the issues last season, bear in mind that they also have a large Jewish support like Spurs. The problems were caused by the locals. The court case which I would trust more than the story tellers on here is something that people should read. 85% of those arrested were not Maccabi fans, 100% of those hospitalised were Maccabi fans. The only people jailed by the courts were locals. I will remind people on here that during the court cases it was revealed that more than 900 people were in a WhatsApp group and the court said the chat had been used to pass on information to "commit violence against people of Jewish descent and/or supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv".

Yes. Maccabi fans chanted some pretty disgusting songs but no more than plenty of other European and UK clubs do. As for the video supposedly showing Maccabi fans in Amsterdam two years ago, I don't think they even played there that season although I will stand corrected.

Young Boys who play Villa soon rioted at the weekend and attacked police, should they be banned? Den Haag fans burned a huge LGBT flag this weekend at their own stadium which most people would agree is a homophobic attack on a community, should they be banned from attending any games or will they be welcomed in a place like Birmingham if they ever play there. Barca were kicking off recently, yet again no calls for bans in Europe.

I have said before but nobody could answer, this so called reputation of Maccabi fans, where has it come from, a couple of incidents? Name me five other incidents that involved Maccabi fans in Europe. A top 50 list of teams with fans with a hooligan reputation would not have Maccabi in it.

The issue in Birmingham is that, like Amsterdam, there is a radical Muslim population that simply cannot be trusted when an Israeli team comes to play. You can whinge and moan all you like but those are the facts. The anti semitism on here is disgusting but it's nothing more than expected.

Name the last English club banned by a local authority and not UEFA? No idea how many were banned by the club, that’s not relevant. Tell me about all these times in the past 10 years that Maccabi have been involved in racist and violent incidents. Had you even heard of them this time last month? And why did the Turkish authorities not want the game taking place in Istanbul? And to add Maccabi weren’t not banned.

I thought it was interesting that the majority of supporters that were arrested that night were Ajax fans..... yet they (I believe) are playing at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday - why were they not excluded?

If we're going to base these decisions on a violence factor of supporters then I guess LFC, MUFC and pretty much each and every British football club should be concerned.

Lets face it, the main threat to this game is that a whole load of Palestinian supporters are going to turn up en masse and cause trouble by the way of a protest march. That is the main challenge the Police face.

Football hooligans or louts are something the WM constabulary deal with each and every week and that and that alone should be the focus of their effort.

There are reasons why the majority of fans arrested that night were Dutch. The info is out there if you'd care to look for it.

Hooligans are dickheads, whatever club, whatever country. Ban the lot of them, I honestly don't care.

Nothing about what Byrne said?

Wrong again. Go and do some homework and come back when you understand what actually happened.

They were, they were given a reduced allocation and then caused so much trouble outside the ground that they were banned from coming in.

Villa Statement here:

First paragraph of the statement:
Aston Villa Football Club can confirm that no away fans were allowed into Villa Park for this evening’s UEFA Europa Conference League fixture with Legia Warsaw on the advice of West Midlands Police following large-scale disorder outside the stadium caused by visiting supporters.

So they werent outright banned initially but they were banned eventually. So there is precedent for fans behaving badly.

That did happen though, didnt it? Large scale hooliganism was clamped down on in England because of it.

Unfortunately, that isnt the case in Europe, these 'Ultras' that supposedly bring 'atmosphere' heavily revolve around violence, disruption and in a lot of cases are politically funded and tied to a cause. Not saying that all applies here but it some of it does and there are plenty of clubs around Europe it applies to.

This isnt a 'few louts' as you put it. It's hundreds and sometimes thousands causing trouble. It's completely organised. It's not 1 pissed up nob who fancies a scrap.

Except they were.
Legia Warsaw fans were banned by UEFA after violence at Villa. They were given a reduced allocation of 1,000 but many travelled without tickets and tried to force their way in. As a result, UEFA banned the LW fans for 5 away games.

If there was a problem with the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans then UEFA would have banned them.

Likewise with Roma after their recent shenanigans in Nice ....
If there was a problem with the Maccabi Tel Aviv fans then UEFA would have banned them.
But come on .... are we seriously putting forward the notoriously apolitical rotten institution of UEFA as some sort of serious moral arbiter here?

They weren’t banned though prior to the game despite having a far worse reputation than Maccabi. They were denied entry on the evening of the game which caused even more issues but nobody banned them from attending the game and indeed some made it in the ground. Maccabi are not being given any tickets at the moment and are banned, Warsaw weren’t.

Violent fans being banned by a club is absolutely relevant. That's how England cleaned up it's act.
2023 Cyprus.
2024 Athens.
2024 Amsterdam.
2025 Israel - attacking a left wing political rally in Tel Aviv.
2025 Israel - local derby cancelled.

How many Maccabi fans have been banned by their club?

Yes but they were still banned and they were banned priorly for the matches following for what they did in Birmingham.

This is the landscape of European football at the moment though, ultra groups are causing ever increasing violence in European games. They arent the only team being banned.

Having seen the scenes in Amsterdam and Tel Aviv last night, it certainly doesnt look like a bad decision from the police. The resources it's going to take to police hundreds, possibly thousands of organised hooligans seems like a huge risk for a police force.

It also doesnt look like MTA as a club have made any attempt to clear up the violence as a club. It's happening far too regularly.

How many Maccabi fans have been banned by their club?
Cyprus, six Maccabi fans arrested fir carrying smoke bombs / flares, no major trouble
Athens, no arrests, the odd skirmish, more serious stuff every Friday in Manchester
Amsterdam - as court documents prove this was a Jew hunt by local islamists. 5 Maccabi fans hospitalised,
Rally in Tel Aviv irrelevant and local derby cancelled predominantly due to Hapoel fans not Maccabi.
In 2024 - 2025 we had the second highest number of arrests of all PL teams with 60% being at home, should we be banned given your logic. Stop talking shit, we all know why Maccabi are being banned, it’s because the locals can’t behave themselves.

They were not banned at Villa Park. PSG brought nearly 2.5k last season and their reputation is far worse than Maccabi’s who probably would have brought 1-1.5k max with many being Jews based in the UK. I bet Birmingham fans wouldn’t be banned, nor Leeds, Millwall etc all of whom would bring far more than Maccabi. If their violence is happening far too regularly name me five instances in Europe where Maccabi have been involved in major violence.
