Holidays

Did a week Ai on the Dom Rep in February after a week's cruise so saw bits of 5/6 islands none of which I enjoyed, always a bit of an atmosphere...saw a fellow guest get racially abused, a white guy with an Asian wife on Dominica, on St. Maartin we were told we couldn't sit at certain tables to watch the planes as we were not eating at the bar etc.

The hotel at DR was on the beach but nowhere near anywhere to walk to, apart from an excursion we stayed within the hotel grounds.

The excursion from there was fine and the best one we did over the 2 weeks but, mini bus to boat was like a warzone with beggars, monkeys & parrots on ropes, mad driving on anything that moved around the harbour etc never again.

As a pricy holiday taking into account VFM , it was shite.
Know that you mean about the mad driving. Felt like a free for all out there. Some idiot drove the wrong way on a dual carriageway while we were on a bus. Scary as Hell and lucky we didn’t crash into them.

Booked 5 nights in Malaga early December.
Already booked el caminito del rey, plan to do the Picasso museum, and looking at a trip inland to Mijas, which looks stunning.
Anyone been? Advice/ tips most welcome.
Mijas Pueblo is a beautiful place. Lived there for 3 years. Met some lovely people both locals and ex pats. Lots of great bars and restaurants. Special mention to Chema and Domini at Chemas Terrace. If you fancy a "nightcap" (and if it's still open) try The Donkey Bar :).

We were there in the late 90s. We hired a car but there was only the most very basic insurance. Roundabouts were a free for all, either way and in at least one case straight across the lawned area in the middle. WE filled up with petrol and I handed a UK Visa card. The owner refused it as it wasn't a local card. He was delighted it worked and that he now knew any Visa card would work. It's miles better now compared to how it was back then driving wise.

Any tips for Orlando (layover - I’ve only got from 7pm to 2pm the following day); Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Montevideo or Santiago Chile?

Recently got back from the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana). There’s some beautiful beaches and clear blue sea over there. However, be really careful where you eat. I ate some food on Saona Island which was a big mistake. I ended up with a bad stomach for around ten days.
I’ve been to Punta Cana a few times and always made a point of avoiding any trips to Saona Island ! Lovely beaches and turquoise seas, but really not much to see or do outside the hotel resorts - some of which are superb.

Remember when Chema first opened, we were one of the first in, he's into his wine :)

This is what we got a lad to ware on his Stag to Valencia earlier this year

Gave up on China couldnt get the flights.
Ended up in Florida currently near Cocoa beach then driviing down to do the Keys
Anybody been to Kennedy Space centre and if so is it worth it.

Sounds like everyone’s got some great vacation plans coming up! One tip I’d add is to consider using airport fast track https://comfortpass.travel/airport-fast-track/ when traveling during peak season. It really cuts down on security line stress and gives you more time to relax before the flight. Even if it’s a small extra cost, the convenience is worth it, especially if you’re juggling connecting flights or early departures. Makes the whole holiday start on a much smoother note.
