10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

He's got loads of talent. I have never seen a player who is as two footed as Cherki. I think Pep is right to bring him into games off the bench and eventually making that right hand side his own
+1

Let's for sure start Cherki as often as possible - the guy has enormous talent. If he doesn't work out... then... no big loss. We didn't overpay for him and can move him on/loan him if necessary.

Two footed players I've seen: Jordi Cruijff, Luis García, Santi Cazorla, Pedro Rodríguez, Nico Oliveira, Paolo Maldini, Sergi Barjuán... not a common thing.

I was awful playing football, but two footed, that's why I look that quality. Born right footed but with training became two footed (as Paolo Maldini). Even I played more left footed then.

It's alright being two footed but he's got quality to burn in both feet.

Haha you sound like me as a footballer, bang average but completely ambidextrous.

Dave famously took a few months to break into the team and I expect something similar to happen with Cherki. Come of the bench to win a game for us and Pep won’t be able to ignore him.

I think all the things we see as exciting and fuel our desire to see him start, are things Pep will see as things he needs to improve. We love his outrageous passing with either foot to set Haaland away, or his skill to manipulate a bit of space. Pep will probably see both as potentially excessive and possibly resulting in losing the ball. It doesn't mean he won't play and won't start when fully fit, but I think the tempo and control are elements he'll want to see just as much as those things that we love.

It's similar to his comments on Phil which have always been about not playing at 100 miles an hour all the time. Mix the intensity and incisiveness with some control.

Not necessarily a comment about today but what am I missing? People rave about him but I’ve seen nothing

He had a poor game against Spurs due to no
midfield control. If you focus on his passing the you would see it is clear as day he knows how to create chances. Close to De Bruyne’s killer balls.

He gave a great pass for O’reilly who pissed himself in the box. Then also gave an assist to Erling last week that Erling miraculously missed.

He is clearly the most talented attacking player in our team (with Foden) but for some reason Sideshow Bob is starting because he did one nice pirouette and Savinho needs his contract extension justified.

This isn't a comment on his performance, he had just 20 minutes but these are the games where we need him to step up and produce, not when the game is won. How often he can do that for us will determine how good he can be.

I just rewatched the last 30 minutes. He came on in the 76th minute. He didn't do anything special, apart from a spontaneous pass to O'Reilly in the box or a cross that found Haaland's head, and a shot that was blocked.

But you can clearly see the difference in intelligence he has with some of his teammates, whether in movement or in ball circulation. His technical ease and his ability to play with both feet make his life so much easier. We absolutely have to integrate him as quickly as possible and give him the keys to the game, as was the case with KDB. The team needs his creativity so much.

Hopefully he’ll start the next 2 and do enough to play V Liverpool so we can fully see what he’s all about
