So you think Phil played well?
As well as Villa stopped him! Come on teams at home like Villa can just be to good in all departments on the day! It’s like we don’t win it’s everyone’s fault and they all shit! Villa was just too good it happens!
So you think Phil played well?
Same as last year Morgan rogers dominated the midfield and yet we started without a holding midfielder, I love pep but honestly that absolutely baffles me, it’s infuriating to be able to see that as soon as the line ups were announced before then I was confident we would get something today but pep took that away with the selectionOur dominance looks a long time ago in a galaxy far far away!
And do we have a midfield?? Inquiring minds want to know.. since Villa cutting through center at will and Haaland no service and side to side again!
Maybe you do? Riiiiight.Maybe I do maybe I don't. If Nico Gonzalez was fit to play 45 what did it matter if it was the first or second. The amount of time our players spend out even with what look innocuous injuries leads me to believe they are overly cautious.
I agree but who does he play...Nico would have started if fit I believe....I suspect the same can be said of Kova (but he aint great defensively either)I don't understand not playing Kovacic OR Nico Gonzalez, it was clear as day the midfield wad light, Reijnders isn't a holding midfielder as he can't sense danger. Savinho starting again I just don't understand it, that's on top of him lasting 83 minutes.
Surely Marmoush and Cherki could have been given the nod today as Bobb, Doku and Savinho aren't doing enough.
Anyway, I don't know where we go from here, this isn't an easy fix.
If we can get those 3 playing regularly and building an understanding it would be interesting. Marmoush near assist today was excellent ans cherki is always looking forward
And Isabel what first attracted to the multi millionaire NorwegianIsabel's not gonna be happy with that , or the result .... she was probably lookin' forward to a City win, and a bit of 'how's your father' later, but now she'll get neither,
Agree 100 per cent. Foden was the only one with any urgency today plus a little cameo from Doku.Very average all over the pitch. Bernardo is finished, we know it, he knows it, Pep knows it. Been a diamond for us though over the years, but his legs have gone even if his heart hasn’t. Putting him alongside Reijnders, who couldn’t tackle a fucking full English breakfast was ludicrous.
I’m sorry to say this and I don’t say it lightly, Oscar Bobb is turning into a myth. He’s offered very little when given the opportunity. Savinho offers glimpses, but his crossing was awful today and Doku was on too late to make any impact; same can be said for Cherki & Marmoush. I’d like to see Haaland AND Marmoush starting, with Cherki in for either of our current unproductive wingers. We started well today, but our well known issues crept in and we became sloppy again.
Our tactics really need a shake up, too laboured in our approach play (even when we are on the break), gives the opposition time to set up. Our current players are not as capable at controlling possession as our previous teams were, we need to evolve and transform our style of play. Our reluctance to try a shot at goal for fear of giving up possession is irritating. Eventually we attempt one too many passes and lose possession anyway. Why are our set pieces so poor? What are we practising? We have so many players over 6’2” but we hardly cause any problems.
I agree but there is something not right with the coaching set up. There’s a lack of sharpness, basic fitness, our set pieces absolutely stink and we react slowly when it is clear change is needed. Pep always says he needs to get better so it’s fair to point these outMaybe tongue in cheek but trust me Guardiola would walk if he didn’t think he could improve us and win things.
In my mind it comes down to a simple choice. Who do you want as your manager, Pep or someone else. I’m choosing Pep every time
Yep. Can't place that defeat at the ref's feet.Ref was shit overall I thought, but he was the least of our worries today.
I don’t think they’re pointless.Stats are fucking pointless shite. Your eyes are the only stats you need.
Clearly still injuredEnjoyed O’Reilly’s cameo, lol. Played like he was pissed.
There was a point in the second half when he picked the ball up in our half and broke forward but it was evident he did not have the legs to complete the run. When he shot he pulled it so far wide it was beyond a joke. Either unfit or just totally lacking a real engineNew nickname "Flambé" Reijnders
A total flash in the pan
I sincerely hope he proves me wrong and I'm more than willing to eat lashings of humble pie
Excellent post. Agree with all of that, very weird that we were supposed to be getting the ball forward faster this season yet today it was back to the slow slow build up allowing Villa to get into position.
Play him in the home games were creating nothing something has to change.I agree but who does he play...Nico would have started if fit I believe....I suspect the same can be said of Kova (but he aint great defensively either)
I agree on Sav - i said in the summer we should have taken the spurs money
I suspect Pep thinks Cherki is going to struggle at present against quick transitional teams when we ourselves struggle in transition....Im not doubting his technical ability but Im not sure he has the physicality...
Marmoush is an odd one..if Haaland is on the pitch where does he play - he aint a wide player and he aint a better 10 than Foden or Cherki...
Been my sentiment for a few years now.Stats are fucking pointless shite. Your eyes are the only stats you need.
Needs time. Remember plodri?New nickname "Flambé" Reijnders
