The Labour Government

I believe that Farage should lose his ministe...... oh wait he's not in govt.
Its like the only thing you can do is not vote for him, which i won't and neither will you.
Poor attempt that mate.

Poor attempt is the extreme predictable outrage once again over a small minute issue, it's a form that some areas require and some don't and clearly the letting agent she pays in this case is the one that didn't submit this.

And neither by the sound of it are the letting agents. It's not a good look but imagine employing a company to do a professional job and they don't. Who do you blame, yourself or them?

But I also hope there is a serious look at who leaked the information to the DM, because i'd be amazed if there isn't a confidentiality clause in their contract. Or maybe Starmer shopped her so he can get rid ;-)

Ultimately it's a nothing story unless you're BKB or Gray

A person is responsible for their own financial and tax matters. For a Chancellor of the exchequer to be caught out by this is extremely embarrassing, particularly when she was extolling the virtues of such licensing schemes on twitter a few days ago.

How do you think this will help with the messaging of the Budget if she chooses to increase property taxes, particularly those on rental income? How do you think this helps with the broader perception around the government given the week it’s had with this sex offender migrant, being wrongly released and paid to behave himself on the flight home? Do you think it helps to address the perception that they’re stumbling from one cock up to another?

A few weeks away from another huge tax grab in order to correct the grave errors she made a year ago and we find out Reeves can’t even get her own finances and admin under control.

You’ve got to be a complete stooge if you refuse to see the relevance.

The little things are adding up, its just prejudice on who one believes is telling the truth with these politicians, years on this planet make me cynical from experience. Too much defending of sides going on, power corrupts, she's either stupid or dishonest, neither are good, not the first won't be the last.

She should have been fired months ago.

A few weeks away from another stinging tax grab, and after months of speculation around much higher taxes on properties and rental income, it now turns out she’s broken the law when renting out her own property.

A few weeks after the housing minister was fired because she claimed not to know the rules around stamp duty. Staggering.

They simply aren’t up to the job.
Who would you want to replace them?

such a petty issue. most of those throwing scorn are all quiet on Farage's 2nd home and dodgy dealings.
It certainly is, but it's also beyond frustrating that they keep shooting themselves in the foot like this by handing their critics ammunition on a platter.

We all know that there's different standards at play, with Farage and the Tories getting away with far worse, but that's why Labour ministers need to ensure they're squeaky clean.

Did it not occur to her when she posted those tweets about landlord licences in Leeds that she should double-check whether the same applied in Dulwich? She's the chancellor ffs; it's ridiculous that there isn't someone in the party tasked with checking these things before they become an issue.

I wondered what this apparent scandal was when I saw the headlines this morning. It's not a great look but it's not material unless you accept that political discourse in this country has to be at the level of monkeys throwing their faeces at each other. Not surprised by Stride jumping on the bandwagon but Daisy Cooper at it too. I have little to no time for Rachel Reeves but this is just a non story. As for the people continuing to use the belittling 'Rachel from Accounts' tag it's simply says more about them than it does anything meaningful. It's not as some seem to think a witty or cutting allusion as to her lack of competency it's a lazy, misogynist phrase that has the (quite possibly deliberate) side effect of further eroding public authority and increasing contempt for those in public office.
good post

It’s never going to change when we have media and other sources scouring every single MP for absolutely anything backed up now by a tidal wave of social media outrage whether the ‘scandal’ is factual or not and with little context.

I read it as a tongue in cheek ‘hilarious’ joke - but you can’t deny many will actually believe that.

I can and will deny it because I’ve not suddenly developed some enlightened view of social media because it’s saying hurty words against my side all of a sudden.

I've said it's not a good look. Now you conflate it with an illegal being deported- well done. No doubt you will get your way and the press and Badenoch will get what they want.

Let's see what the reaction the next time a minister( who is a person) says the'yre taking a few days off to make sure all of their matters are in order. There'll be bloody uproar.

Maybe every MP should be given a 2 week window and an amnesty to sort all of their affairs out. Any issues after that they get the book thrown at them.

With respect, the public are paying for her to be Chancellor, not a private landlord so a few days off to sort her personal business affairs out would be unacceptable.

Posters on her side are lashing out which I get but they have to accept that yet again, a labour minster has been found wanting when it comes to the highest standards of public life and being seen to be doing one thing whilst they legislate another for the rest of us.

It’s not our fault they’re useless ;-)

So once a minister = no private time?

We also pay for all MPs, but the likes of Farage spend more time on their other enterprises than they do the job the public pay them for.

There are some on here that would be unhappy if Reeves was giving them a blow job whilst at the same time cutting their tax by 100% ;-)

There is an old saying if you don't like the rules don't play the game, because they are all playing the game. They will call for each others head knowing full well their are loads from both sides doing the same thing.
