10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

A few months back a Fulham fan down the gym said to me you did well to not sign Wirtz, you got a far more talented player at a fraction of the cost. Said he had watched a lot of him and said you’re in for a wild ride, said he’s maybe the most naturally talented player he has seen since Messi in the past quarter of a century. Initially thought he may have been being OTT with waxing so lyrical but he’s a massive football fan that knows his shit. I’m thinking he may have had a point…
 
He has to be in the side. With the lack of output from our other attacking players, we can’t do without him. He takes some pressure off Erling.
 
He's got the x factor that so few players have. Taking two players out with a back heel on the touchline was sublime. Great goal as well, you get an end product with this lad.

With a fully fit Rodri and if Cherki,Doku and Savinho can consistently achieve what they showed tonight then I think this version of City could be compared with other versions of City under Pep.
 
Cherki looks absolutely class. Stick with this trajectory and hope that next year we are talking about him being on the level of KDB/D. Silva. Yes, he’ll lose the ball now and then, KDB did too, and we shipped goals off it, but that’s the price of magic.

The only bit missing is the engine: Kev was still flying in the 90th minute, half-dead. Rayan’s not there yet, but the signs are mad. Start him this weekend and give the guy a proper run. Footy is worth watching when he’s on the pitch.

That’s true just now. Give this squad another year though. The spine is there. Donna, O’Reilly, Nunes, Guardiol, Nico, Rodri, Phil, Cherki, Doku, Erl. This squad is capable of winning some trophies.
