Yes they work well but of course you lose power sockets which can be a pain. Well it is in my house, there’s never enough and I can’t stand having extension leads everywhere.

Yep. Extension cables galore to make up for it but if it keeps the kids online and not moaning then it’s a small price to pay.

Ok....all the other pcs, tablets, printer etc have been set up and work except one, my old one which worked fine before the new sky set up today. It turns on ok but I've nowhere to enter the password..... I did once but it didn't hold the password, nothing since but intermittant wifi connection which doesn't last long.

"I cannot get anything up to insert the password.....everything else has allowed me" what does that mean?

That part's the mystery.

Have you moved router/ PC position of late?

I kept having WiFi issues myself, at one point, last year. Tried everything and an engineer came out, sorted it by rejigging the signal power through the cables.

Now I'm with a new company as I got fed up with price hikes and went hardwired after drilling through my wall. Not saying do that, but you might have to consider maybe moving things around.

Maybe you're 'overloaded'??

How many things have you got attached to the WiFi?

The box that requests the password has appeared on the pcs etc but it won't come up on the one in question. Well it did once but it wouldn't load the password

Inc the TV 2 phones, 2 tablets, 3 laptops and a printer
On the old Sky set up we did need a booster and it worked fine....after the engineer fiddled about with some wiring. But that's so yesterday as I've just today found out...it's a whole new viewing " experience "

The new tplink ones include a plug socket so you don't lose one, but they do stick out a bit more. I'd plug everything out for at least 10 minutes and start again with the router and then each applinace one by one. I use TPlink AV1300 adapters. Be aware that the advertised declared speeds are never achieved. I have 500mb coming in but only about 150mb after going through the extenders.

I have a wide variance of connection speed between the 4 adapters - it depends on the electric circuit wiring.

I assume if the signal has to swap electrical circuits via the consumer unit with all its fuses and trip switches it will possibly degrade? I had an issue that the signal would be travelling through two consumer units and it just wouldn’t work with powerline adapters, so I went with creating a second wifi zone instead.

I got a new router recently and all the laptops/phones etc. synched up no problem.
My old laptop didn't. I had to go into system and wifi settings and allow it to find the new router.

It does. We're in a place where the wiring was brand new 9 years ago. But tpLink say of the AV1300:

"Let’s assume the Powerline speed between the TL-WPA8630 and TL-PA8010 is 1000Mbps in an ideal environment with few interferes, normally it will make an actual throughput of 300Mbps-350Mbps. This rule basically applies to all Home Plug AV products."

So about a third of what is coming in. On that basis my 130-140 from an initial input speed of 500mbs is about right.

My PC is about 18 years tbh and needed a booster before so a newer addition with all the whistles and bell s probably wouldn't go amiss.

If it's connected wirelessly, maybe try a new WIfi dongle. It won't be money wasted as if you buy a new PC you can use it on that. 18 year old PC? Still running XP or Windows 1? ;-)
