Just realised this would be three starts in a week for O'Reilly, and it would be up against Salah...

Donnarumma
Nunes Dias Gvardiol Ake
Gonzalez Bernardo
Cherki Foden Doku
Haaland

O'Reilly had three starts in a week this season: United, Napoli and Arsenal. He is highly likely to start, as he would offer much more going forward.

Ake for me, Alex. Keeping a grip on Saleh is crucial and Ake's proved time and time again that he's the man for that job.

Let the others sort out the attacking options; I want Ake man for man on Saleh. Ake's the best defensive left back in the squad.

Imo, Pep will go with O'Reilly. Ake is not the same defender from 2 seasons ago. He is a bit slower and rusty now.

Dias will take care of Ekitike and Gvardiol will help O'Reilly to deal with Salah.

If Pep is worried about O'Reilly vs. Salah, he's likely to play Gvardiol at LB and Dias and Stones at CB.

I'm sure Pep will consider that possibility.

But since our record with Dias and Gvardiol at CB and O'Reilly at LB has been great, he isn't likely to change that. If something works, it's risky to change it. Pep experimented at Villa, partly forced by the absence of a fit DM, but the experiment wasn't successful.

They'll likely gain the upper hand in terms of intensity and physical battle in midfield, but we'll dominate them technically. We need to let them have a little more possession (55-60 %). They have the same problem defending by dropping back. We can really hurt them with direct, central play.

We just need to avoid giving Szoboszlai long-range shooting angles; he's the only player I want us to keep an eye on, the rest we can leave calm.

They are the ones who should fear us; if we play our game like we did against Bournemouth and Dortmund, we will beat them. Our supporters have a crucial role to play.

Put your money on Liverpool then

We mustn't change anything in our defensive line. We can't praise O'Reilly's qualities and then change his position or leave him out because he'll be defending against an older Salah. That would send the wrong message to the player, a message of fear that our team will receive, and a psychological boost to the opposition. We're not afraid of them; it's up to them to figure out how to contain our players.

I do like khus and want him to play but he was poor in his last game so I don't think this is the one to throw him in. Let's build his confidence up in a less intense game

Draw would be best result for us but I think you are playing well and will beat them. Haaland to be the difference maker. 3-1 City.

That midfield really concerns me against Liverpools. I just can’t see how we get the better of them.

Fully fit Rodri really would change everything

We get the better of them when we have the ball without it we defend get behind the ball then play the quick long ball down the wing on knock to Haaland! Bournemouth game showed how we can beat teams like these! Only threat is Ekitiki Nunes will pocket him like he picketed Bournemouths best player!

Some our fans are quick to look at our weaknesses while ignoring the opponents which have more problems!

I expect a close game because both teams will probably err on the side of caution. However, I am very confident about the way this City side is progressing. I have seen a lot of all or nothing comments wrt the outcome of this game but I don't believe this is so. This is a young City side and we are progressing really well.

We have opened the season well, and not yet been able to call upon Rodri. You can look on that as a positive or a negative.

I don't see Pep taking chances with regards to players fitness and form, and if anything he will go quite conservative with the lineup.

Khusanov and Rodri are in our best team, but right now they just don't have the fitness or form for a game of this caliber.

Bernardo is his reliable soldier on the field and is almost certain to play meaning it's probably going to be him, Foden and Nico G in midfield.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Savinho and Doku are on the wings.

It's a must win game regardless for me. I know many are saying there are still 80 odd points to play for etc.. but if we lose that's 4 losses in the league after 11 games and 9 points behind top spot. You cannot be losing more than a third of your games at this stage of the season as history shows that anymore than 5 losses in a season and it's incredibly difficult to win the league.

I think the league has been won by 6 losses only 4 or 5 times and nobody has won the league with more, and in most cases those extra few losses for those teams have come after they won the league early. Lose here and we would have to be bordering on perfect for the rest of the season.

It's the same for Liverpool.

That week in which we played United, Napoli and Arsenal was decisive and Rodri started all 3 games. It seems that those 3 starts and the full game at Arsenal led to setbacks in his fitness. But had we lost at Arsenal, the league would have been gone.

Those setbacks have helped Gonzalez to develop his game and show his worth to the team. So, let's hope they have led to something positive.

I'd take 4 pts from Liverpool and Newcastle. If Rodri is fit to start games after the international break, we can win many games and compete for the title.

If we lose on Sunday, our chances will take a proper hit. The title would be unlikely then. But unlikely things happen all the time. It was highly unlikely that Liverpool would win the title by 10 pts last season, and it happened. It was virtually impossible that Liverpool would lose 4 league games in a row, and it happened. Etc.
