Let's speculate... Maybe they have surreptitiously relaxed the rules.. gone from triple checking to 1 checking, cos they need extra cells for people who post crass stuff on social media? That's what I've heard anyway.
Maybe he is but you’re burying your head in the sand again and avoiding the point he made… just saying.
Whilst that is true, I feel that politicians are not trying hard enough or communicating cleverly enough to allow folk to take sensible decisions. It’s too bloody easy to tell folk what they want to hear. How can you tell the truth to voters when the voters can't handle the truth?
Are you OK, do you need to talk?Let's speculate... Maybe they have surreptitiously relaxed the rules.. gone from triple checking to 1 checking, cos they need extra cells for people who post crass stuff on social media? That's what I've heard anyway.
It’s interesting. All I’ve heard from Labour is that the country is in a shit state, so much that all the media have slated them for being so negative. They put stuff in place that will take time to change where we are, and then Reeves comes out and tells us all exactly where the country is, yet people still don’t hear it.Whilst that is true, I feel that politicians are not trying hard enough or communicating cleverly enough to allow folk to take sensible decisions. The current government because of the pressure on prison places decided early release with a sentence reduction has changed from 50% to 60% consequently it means 1,000 prisoners released and 1,000 new prisoners and asylum seekers in detention or due to be deported detained.Well, certainly because of who was mistakenly released...
But the key question is why there's been a recent big increase - and so far as I can tell, no-one's come up with a reason why anything done under or by the present government might have caused the spike.
In the manifesto and in media interviews with Reeves, Labour has made the following policy announcements:It’s interesting. It’s always been like this where the media tell people what to think, and that gentle nudge from what is real and what people want to be real.
Scary thought that people didn’t understand that there was a black hole in the budget, the likes of Truss and Sunak made it so.
My reply was in response to the communication question. In the manifesto and in media interviews with Reeves, Labour has made the following policy announcements:
- A promise not to "raise taxes on working people"
I think - I hope - it was a rather clever joke. Are you OK, do you need to talk?
Whatever you meant to say, it didn't work. The current government because of the pressure on prison places decided early release with a sentence reduction has changed from 50% to 60% consequently it means 1,000 prisoners released and 1,000 new prisoners and asylum seekers in detention or due to be deported detained.
The government has created over two thousand extra terrorists which puts pressure on the police and justice system. They are yet to be convicted of terrorism if they are it will make the system breakdown altogether

I don’t believe anyone in politics at present has the capability to arrest the UKs decline. Certainly not the current Labour government, the Tories or Reform. My reply was in response to the communication question.
As for taxes, no idea what they will do. However, in my opinion, I’d like to see a full reform of taxes, not just fiddling at the edges. The country is in a total mess and we either accept it and move on, or want to change that and pay for it.
There is a certain inevitability to it I feel.I don’t believe anyone in politics at present has the capability to arrest the UKs decline. Certainly not the current Labour government, the Tories or Reform.
Mahmood is an impressive person. If they can do this it will go a long way to keeping out Reform.
I know these measures are not to everyone's taste but for me its about keeping the country together and stopping the (negative) issues that immigration in all its flavours is causing.

Austerity was the medicine that was supposed to cure the nations ills. This is going to be more of the same I fear. There is a certain inevitability to it I feel.
Reeves is going to get pelters but the truth is we are in the shit as a nation and that’s been ingrained since Covid, and arguably austerity. It’s going to have to be painful.
She may well be but will she get support for similar rules from the Labour rank and file? I have been saying for years we could do worse than learn from the Scandinavian countries. They seem to be able to strike a good balance between socially fair policies, looking after their economies and applying common sense.Mahmood is an impressive person.
And that’s where I see the narrative change, admitting to all who want to listen, that we have been in a period of decline and neglect and that tough decisions need to be taken.I don’t believe anyone in politics at present has the capability to arrest the UKs decline. Certainly not the current Labour government, the Tories or Reform.
I would add that if the current strategy is to achieve confidence, investment and growth then constantly telling everyone what a shit show we are is an interesting way of encouraging that.
I certainly agree with your last paragraph. And that’s where I see the narrative change, admitting to all who want to listen, that we have been in a period of decline and neglect and that tough decisions need to be taken.
For me, the recent narrative is welcome, giving understanding of where we are. And, as we’re in the Labour thread, they need to now stop blaming other parties and get on with the job in hand.
