United facing sex abuse allegation

Still nothing on the BBC football pages other than this fluffy PR piece that's obviously been planted to distract https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cdjrkznlk9yo
The comments section is funny, including this
This isn't journalism, it's performing public relations for a thoroughly unpleasant individual who chooses to be a tax exile after taking our public services for every penny he could wring out of them. BBC Sport should be ashamed of itself.

Regardless of what club it is it’s still absolutely abhorrent that this happened at so many professional clubs for a number of years and that people high up in these clubs knew about it.

No point scoring here as we should know full well the impact this abuse has had on our own players over the years. Thankfully I think this sort of thing is in the past but years ago it was rife and like one poster had said it happened at every club.

Even in Sunday league it was going on in the 80s . I remember playing in a cup that was named after dignitary at the local county football cup and my old man telling me he could believe the cup was still named after him as everyone knew he was a nonce.

Hopefully with all the safeguards put in place now that football never experiences this level of abuse and cover up again.
If allegations are true thoughts should be with the victim(s) regardless of the club involved.

Exactly. Those who make tribal comments about this (and similarly about City in the infamous case) are undermining the most serious of issues.

Imagine that was you, or your son. You are so happy and elated that you are on the path to living your dream. And for that dream amd your life to be defiled forever, even if you make it as a successful footballer (see David White).

Horrendous.

It is now on the bbc football page, but you'll need to scroll a long way down to find it.

(hint - it's way below the story about the radcliffe revolution.)
Blinking heck !
Are you in any way implying that the Stinky Jim puff piece has been put out to coincide with the horrific abuse story ?

It was a minefield back then, a friend of mine was at United and then Crewe as a boy and he tells me it was out of the frying pan and into the fire. The guy named in Paul Stewart’s book who recruited boys from South Manchester for the Rags was every bit as despicable as the guy who recruited for us. Then again my Cub Scout leader could give them both a run for their money

So that’s the reason for that regurgitated story…. It was basically top soil for burying this.

Unfortunately, men have evolved over millions of years to be sexual predators to some extent. It's obviously been moderated by adjusting social norms (and laws) over the last few thousand years of civilization, but there's still a non-trivial percentage that are on the more predatory end of the spectrum, who would take sexual advantage of whoever they're personally into, given the opportunity.

The lack of coverage its getting compared to us when than prick who i won't name was accused and found guilty is telling.

BBC sport still wanking over the raggettes
While it should be getting more prominence on the BBC and the wider media, City weren’t the main story when Andy Woodward bravely came forward in 2016. It was all about what Bennell was up to at Crewe and it snowballed from there to cover his work at other clubs, including ours. Daniel Taylor - who originally broke the story in The Guardian - actually gave City a fair bit of credit for launching a full investigation, whilst also being critical of Crewe’s handling of it.

Here’s a slightly more critical view of the scruff’s empire. Loading his businesses with debt while extracting personal wealth isn’t especially original (ref Trump, Glazers etc) but it’s the rest of society that pays the bill.

Even BBC article picture caption is bollocks - “second richest person in the U.K.”? He’s not in the U.K. He’s a tax exile who lives in Monaco.

The two top spots for the wealthiest people are a bunch of Indians with links to Switzerland and scruffy Jim who doesn't even live here and just comes back to cadge a few quid.

We can't even do billionaires right.

I do find it strange that someone like Ratcliffe can influence government and local government policy and spending, when not paying tax or being domiciled in this country. Some days it beggars belief, some days I just chuckle (ironically).

It’s quite easy when you realise is filled with self servers rather than people serving the people.
