When we were youngsters 40 years ago use to see lots of hedgehogs when walking home at night, seen 1 in last couple of years. On rainy nights frogs use to be in hundreds trying to dodge the traffic, alas ponds and empty land around has been built on and it's all over for them :-(Not eating them but the increase in population increases pollution and road usage, plus new homes and roads built on wild habitats. Also new landfill sites takes away habitats and contaminates land.
