The Decline in Numbers, of British Mammals.

Not eating them but the increase in population increases pollution and road usage, plus new homes and roads built on wild habitats. Also new landfill sites takes away habitats and contaminates land.
When we were youngsters 40 years ago use to see lots of hedgehogs when walking home at night, seen 1 in last couple of years. On rainy nights frogs use to be in hundreds trying to dodge the traffic, alas ponds and empty land around has been built on and it's all over for them :-(

Since i posted it ive discovered it's Ai..my apologies.

Yeah i know hares are fast, saluki's are faster though ( not that it's my thing)
Bloody AI, gets everywhere in the fake modern World we live in.
I yearn for Nature and Natural.
Saw a dead Hare on the M1 motorway last week, not seen a live one for many a month now.

Here are two hedgehogs in our garden, having a bit of breakfast, quite happily sharing the food until one decides to get pushy:

Regular visitors, though probably looking at hibernating now.

Only 14.5% of the total land in England is natural land. The rest is urban, farmland or otherwise built upon. This is only going to get worse as the population grows, food demands grow and the building on green belt continues for housing.

Climate change gets all of the press but the real worry should be habitat loss. The only living animals left in 50 years will be the ones that we eat or the ones that eat the crap that we chuck in the bin.

The decline in British mammals seems to be inversely proportional to the rise of immigration. They are coming over here and eating our mammals.

They’re eating the badgers, they’re eating the squirrels.

Although a reptile not a mammal I’ve not seen a slow worm for bloody years, used to see them all the time as a kid.

I honestly can't recall seeing a slow worm or even a grass snake since 2016. It seems the promises on the side of the bus were outright lies and our reptiles have voted with their feet.
