The Labour Government

Good to see that there’s a plan for this and everybody knows where they stand. Hopefully get it into effect and we move on to the real stuff that affects ordinary peoples’ lives.

As far as I am concerned I dont want a fRW govn. Everyone loses then.
The one's complaining the loudest about reforming the immigration system, will be the one's crying the loudest if reform wins the next election.

They can't have it both ways. I don't want Farage and his not so merry band of lunatics running the country, it would be a complete disaster.

For me, it’s a nightmare to even consider a Reform government, with a leader who looks up to the likes of Putin and Trump. To have people choosing for them, out of some sort of ideological view, sounds absolutley nuts to me.

That’s how 14 years of austerity got through, and produced our exit from Europe.

That went well.

They have a choice.

Our idiotic woke ideology is responsible for SO much damage. Hiring the wrong people due to idiotic DEI policies. Kids being taught that it's perfectly fine for men to want to become women. That it's right that a convicted sex offender cannot be deported because he might get persecuted in his own country. ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC. Starmer epitomises everything that is wrong with the country. And people now realise it, which is why he is the most unpopular prime minister on record.
You should get a job as Trump’s speech writer.

I've yet to see a country where the far right has been beaten by moving closer and closer to them in policy.

The fact Tommy Robinson and co. are celebrating this as a victory and claiming they've won tells you everything you need to know.

Some of the things in there are reasonable changes in the face of a worldwide increase in asylum seekers, but typical of this Labour govt they've gone so far in trying to appease the far right with some of the rhetoric they've lost half their own MPs, a load of their own voters, and the resulting chaos will just strengthen the far right, and not a single reform voter will switch to Labour because of this.

So you're closer to a fRW government this evening than you were this morning.

I am quite impressed with Labour tbh. At least they are seeming to be doing something. And that's what the country needs, someone listening to them.

This is tangential to the main topic, but you can pretty easily age someone with a single x-ray of their wrist. The government "leveraging the private sector" to use AI facial recognition (which has been proven to not work particularly well on non-white people) is 99% guaranteed to lead to another NPfIT style £10Bn scandal with nothing useable to show for it.

Your argument would hold some water if the countries you allude to were happy with the situation. They aren't either.
Not sure what you’re saying or what the proof would be of how other countries feel about asylum seekers they take but what you seem to be saying is no one wants to take anyone. Is that really acceptable morally ? Or sensible given the number of people who can die or be persecuted all over the world and need help.

I’ve come to the conclusion that whatever Labour do, it will always be wrong to many. And that’s why the Tories/Reform will be back in charge very soon to once again, fuck the workers over.

Robinson, and alike, are not celebrating this, they are shitting themselves that Labour have come up with a plan that is acceptable to many and that counters their own. You’ll know this as you’ll see wall-to-wall from the normal RW media.

All they’ll do is demand its 25 years for nationalisation and asylum check every 2.5 weeks.

Then when that’s implemented, 30 years and daily asylum checks.

Meanwhile, the real issues are ignored.

Set the standards high, ignore the rest that has no impact.

It’s a no win situation, how many have tried?

Sort the poverty crisis, the cost of living, just marginally, will do.

Your last phrase is the most pertinent.

However harsh we are on the 45k that claim asylum a year is not going to change peoples’ lives.

Investment in energy to make it cheap would do far more.

It’s not as sexy as pointing at boats though.

1 they aint dealing with it, more like burying heads

2 We dont seem to have done well at stopping them

3 oh it's 6% this week is it:-)

4 housing, thank god only uk born people live in houses

5 Starmers Trump wraparound solves this how?

Its so tiny bluemoon talks about it endlessly and bloody reform are leading the polls.
What people think are key issues and what actually are can be different also different questions and polls give different results what’s an issue for people or country as a whole for example

Is it a huge issue or is it just perceived as such ?
It depends where you live. If you live in a very deprived small town like me in the North East that has taken approx 12,000 migrants - the majority who have settled across a relatively small number of central wards, yes it is. It massively changes the demographics of the town, puts a huge strain on services, creates a huge demand on the rental market which drives rental prices up (particularly as a proportion of the migrants are students) and generally speaking makes people feel less connected and less safe.

In the past, I would view that feeling as unjustified, but in the past 4 years or so I have caught a migrant male stood on my drive way at 4am, had a migrant male break into my in-laws neighbour and sexually assault her (after knocking on my inlaws door beforehand), had a migrant male follow my gf and daughter home swinging a pool cue round his head while screaming, and a migrant male arrested on my street for pulling a blade out on some little kids (who to be fair, might have been gobshites). No idea if my experience is an outlier or not.

What a load of reactionary shit. Complete with key words from the playbook.
But it isn't is it. Do you want your your 8 year old being told its' OK if he want to become a woman? I do not. Do you want companies blocking hiring of the most capable white male in favour of a less capable trans black "woman"? I don't want that either. Do you want people who could work choosing not to because they have been kidded into thinking that being stressed is not normal part of human life? Nope. Don't want that either. People being arrested because they said something that upset someone? FFS. How about not being able to send people to prison because there's no-one to feed their cat?

It's ALL fucking bollocks mate and all of it must stop. Thankfully, in less than 4 years now, it WILL stop.
