9 | Erling Haaland - 2025/26

He finishes top scorer of any qualifying competitions across the world. 16 goals, double that of Kane in second place for the European qualifiers, and is higher than anyone else playing in qualifiers that have more games.

Also, it’s a joint record for the European qualifying stage alongside Lewandowski.
He's not Finnish.

What a fucking bloke. And if his form does drop off, always remember when we were losing 10 games in a row and it seemed like the world was caving in, Erling put his big Viking balls on the table and signed a 10 year contract.
If his form doesn’t drop off he could reach 55-60 in the season. If we are regarding the World Cup as part of this season, he could get to 65. His stats come the end of the season could be mind boggling.

Unsure if anyone can ever challenge Messi's 11/12 campaign of 73 (NOT including internationals), but i hope he gives it a damn good go

Add 20 to your numbers. He' currently on 32 in 20, and if you include the world cup he could play 79 matches this season.

So he's on track for 126 goals this season but lets assume he slows down a bit and gets rested a lot more.

Criminal he didn’t win the Ballon d’Or in 2023. And I love Messi.

Hope he continues like this and he gets rewarded with something like that soon. Obviously trophies are needed - despite the treble in 22/23 plus other trophies and individual records and honours - to get there, though.

Two records in sight (over a season):

club + country: 82 goals (Messi)

club: 73 goals (Messi)

If Haaland scores another 10 goals for Norway, including the WC, then he will have to score "just" another 41 City goals to break the first record. The 2nd one seems impossible.

Other players have scored more during the WWII, but the competitions back then weren't the best...
