Stadium Developments thread - New Birmingham City Stadium revealed (p57)

Those plans look superb.

I love ambitious and unique architecture. It’s why I’m so unenamoured with our North Stand Etihad expansion, from the outside of the stadium the architecture is forgettable. Nobody is ever going to go home home after visiting the Etihad and say ‘wow, that stadium is incredible you just have to see it!’… but that’s what we should have aimed for with both the South Stand and North Stand expansions, something people will remember and talk about.

Fair play to Birmingham!
So presumably you'll be loving the plans for the Clowns Circus tent as well? Not having a dig, genuine question.

The American take on how English football stadia should look is tacky as fuck.

Personally I think our stadium looks amazing.

Spuds stadium looks like a high-end shopping centre externally.

Each to their own I suppose.

Begrudgingly, I think United’s new ground will be brilliant. It’s architecturally ambitious, which all big buildings should strive for.

Whether I admit that to any Rags I don’t know, I’ll still call it the circus tent to their faces.

Much like the outside of the Etihad, although better than the outside of the Etihad, I don’t think a great deal to the outside of Spurs’ stadium. It’s nice, not unpleasant, but not very architecturally ambitious.

I’m very jealous of their giant one-tiered stand inside the stadium though.

It looks nothing like Uniteds proposed stadium. Birminghams looks brilliant.

Fair play to Brum and their Fred Dibnah stadium. It’ll happen, too. Their owners are ambitious.

The United stadium and its silly tent will never happen, they’ll end up with a stadium we’ve all seen before. It’ll be boring

The Spurs stadium is what all stadiums should aspire to be, imo. It is stunning.

Birmingham City stadium has been revealed.

The outside will be divisive (I like it) but internally it beats the new Spurs stadium with a huge end behind both goals.

62k
Retractable roof
A single tier stand behind both goals

It's no circus tent !

5 minute video on this new Birmingham stadium.

He just had to be involved, don’t he? I could understand that if he was nearing the end of his career and could make a last season there.

That would be like Rodri appearing in a video now looking thoughtful of a stint at Villareal’s proposed stadium. It would fuck me right off.

Bellingham’s got to Bellingham though I suppose.

BCFC stadium is costing 2.5 Billion pounds!

I like the design. I thought it was a joke at first but it quickly grew on me. They’ve gone for something different and it will divide opinion but nobody can say it’s boring.
