Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

That was a strange game and the perfomance of the official was a fucking joke!

We started off slowly & if not for The Don we could've been two down early.
I thought we got back into it in the 1st half, but some dodgy decisions and bad finishing cost us.
How Tonali and Joelinton got away with constant fouling was beyond me.
The commentators kept going on about Barnes' miss, but he was a mile offside, yet they barely mentioned that!

We came out flat in the 2nd half and just didn't do enough and their first goal was coming, but their winner, even though it was offside in the build up, was awful defending by us.
After that we should've bombarded their goal but Pope had hardly anything to do.

It was a very disappointing result but we didn't match their physicality in midfield and our inconsistent away form continues.

Not happy with today, but we've got to focus on Tuesday now.

COME ON CITY!!!!

That’s fine mate. I’m just saying what I see. We play well, look forward to a tough away game and we fail, again. We are better than last season but still a way of winning the league IMO. Said it before but you can’t win the league when your striker is scoring more goals than the rest of the squad combined…

Game was mad we missed chances Newcastle missed chances first half but you can’t say the referee influenced a lot in that game think a draw would been a fair result

We can and should absolutely discuss it, what else would we do? But lets not pretend that we were unlucky or robbed, we weren't. We don't have the fight of 4 or 5 years ago, we are over-reliant on Haaland and I'm not over-convinced by the quality of our recruitment, I stand by what I said, when the going gets tough - esp away from home, too many go missing.
Well I'm going to pretend we were unlucky and that we were robbed. Because imo we were.

It doesn't meant that we played great or that we dont need to improve. Just that we were on the wrong end of a number of key decisions and in a 2-1 game that has to have a material impact on the result.

All this moaning about VAR, poor reffing etc is a smokescreen, we were wank today, lets not pretend otherwise and it was not for the first time this season. And, lets have it right, we are perfectly happy with dodgy VAR decisions that go our way, so today it might have gone the other way, so boo-hoo. The reality is that, away from home, we lack the balls for a fight. When the going gets tough, we scarper! Until we sort that out, we can forget the title.
Spot on.

Brighton, Villa and today. 3 tough away games but if we have designs on winning the league it’s 3 games we need to get a result in. Not tough enough
