Newcastle United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

How have football and football fans been duped into accepting a cartoon image rather than an actual photo. The cartoon picture is so far out of perspective compared to the real photo and seems very easy to manipulate to suit picture they want to achieve.
Am I saying this is akin to fraud ? Fuckin right I am implying that.
I don't understand using a cartoon over a real at the moment photo, which is nearly impossible to manipulate. City should really be kicking up shit over this. If not it opens the door to be shit on left right and centre.

Its frustrating given what happened, VAR and referee howlers throughout. That being said we were wasteful going forward and defensively shambolic. So many players were not on it yesterday, and most (if not all) couldnt handle Newcastle's press.

Title-winning teams don't end that match with less than 3 points.

Annoyed by the result, pleased that we've now got our own "Spurs goal moment", what with the VAR making the offside decision whilst incorrectly using the goal scoring "shirt-sleeve" law rather than the "armpit" offside law.

I'm not on all the social media stuff but I assume it's awash with complaints? Audio demanded and released? Official statement from PiGMOL and the Premier League released too? All that shit? Yeah?!

Well, at least it'll buy us no more bad decisions for the rest of the season I suppose...

13 months since the last goal Direct (I.e Header/Shot from delivery). Stones Wolves away. Pathetic from the club who go on about having all the resources.
Probably played 60 games since then, so maybe 600 corners. Let that sink in

That's what had me laughing in disbelief, looked like they'd thrown it together on Microsoft Paint. There was something going on there, i'd love for them to release the audio, they wont of course.

We've been crap at them for years, so bad that I remember Savio sent one in back post on his debut and I was calling for him to have the balon d'or on the back of it. Couldn't believe my eyes.

Our set play game is absolute shit. Not sure if that is down to Pep’s preference to win playing “football” or just piss poor recruitment of a set piece coach.

We're in a rebuilding/transitional phase of development. We have fantastic players, with flaws in their game.

Against Newcastle, our current squad - no matter who plays - was going to struggle. We cant' keep the ball as well as we used to without conceding numerous chances for the opposition... because our press is both not as intense as it used to be, and because our players aren't nearly as good at winning one-on-one duals.

Anyhow, Newcastle way was a 50-50- for me. We lost. So be it. We're not nearly at the level of obvious P/L champions yet... but we're clear favorites to finish top 4. Personally I think we'll finish 2nd in the league behind Arsenal.

Nothing wrong with us that signing Semenyo in January wouldn't put right. Then, I hope we wouldn't have to see Savinho again, and, job's a good un.

I thought my answer was obvious. Your 'project players' would presumably include Rodri, Josko, Haaland, Foden, Doku, Cherki along with Gonzo, Rudolph, Marmoush, Savinho & Ait Nouri as well as club trained Oscar, Nico, & Rico. We've got a cracking young squad that will only get better and with a couple of big new signings will be capable of scaling previous heights.
No, project players are largely what we have bought since the treble. Hence the huge drop off since then. Recruitment has been awful, I thought that was widely accepted but apparently not. For what it’s worth I hope you’re right but I think you’re just naming players and saying they are “cracking”. Oscar and Rico are not good enough. Marmoush isn’t pulling up trees and Pep seems reluctant to play him. Savinho…Cherki and Reijnders are hopefully the start of an upwards trajectory of recruitment. We still need another CB/CM/RB and probably 2 wingers with atleast 1 being world class. That’s another transitional year.

A few seasons ago away to Arsenal Ederson fouled Nketiah after he shot wide but Arsenal were awarded a penalty. It was the right call but I remember thinking we won’t see it very often and we won’t be the beneficiaries of any decision like that. Seems to me that’s exactly what happened yesterday but no foul this time.
It was 100% a straightforward late tackle. It was a penalty.

Even so... we're a side that plays a high line against most opponents and that struggles to immediately regain possession...

I've no clue as to how to fix this... but it seems to me that whatever fix Pep comes up with involves multiple player changes.

Hoping spurs can get a result today to limit the damage from yesterday.
+1
But honestly, we're a side that strive to be best in the world.

Some posters still think - IMO way off base - that we'll win the P/L, somehow, this season.

Arsenal are going to win the league... end of.

My aspirations for City are to advance as far as possible in every competition - and with a bit of luck to pick up a trophy.

I've just been watching a bit of the Sheffield derby. Based on what I've just watched and yesterday it's obvious refs have lost complete control of what's happening on corners ad free kicks into the box .There's more grappling and throwing than in most pro wrestling matches. The game is killing itself.

Eddie Howe gets away with playing shite football because he is an English manager. Basically they are overly physical and if it was clear to anyone we would need more than Nico & Bernardo in midfield against their midfield three so I would put that on Pep.
And WTF is the deal with Howe’s sun tanned side kick with the face you could never tire of punching. Bet he has a medallion

I've seen it quite a number of times .... it is WITHOUT DOUBT a penalty, it was a reckless tackle, Wayne Rooney said it should have been given on MOTD ... and the Newcastle player knew he'd got away with one there, you could see that with the sheer relief on his face when he wasn't pulled up by the VAR decision.

VAR was a disgrace, and proved beyond doubt there that it's still got a long way to go for it to be taken seriously.
Richards said that the reason it wasn't given was because he got his shot off, but how many times do your hear the player was late with that tackle and the ball had gone, the foul is always given. Anywhere else on the pitch that's at least a foul and a sending off.
