Just watched this , very strange film 6/10 for me

Philomena (2013) Steve Coogan & Judi Dench

Puzzles me that I've not watched this before now. Writer helps an Irish woman search for her son who was born in a convent then adopted.

The Great Escaper (2023) Michael Caine & Glenda Jackson

90yr old ex serviceman "escapes" his nursing home to make his own way to France for the 70th anniversary of D-Day, after being told he couldn't go. Glenda Jackson stands out in her final performance.

Both based on true stories. I needed tissues for both. Would recommend.

Didn’t think they were that sort of film!

One of my favourite films of 2025
Heslop’s Barnet answered like a man writing by lantern light, his words slow and certain, as if carved into the grain of old timber. He read TonyM’s praise and felt the truth of it settle deep, like snow on a high ridge. “One of his favourite fims of the year,” he said—not in haste, but with the quiet conviction of someone who had walked those tracks and heard the whistle echo through the valleys. His reply carried no flourish, only the weight of agreement, and in that weight was a kind of kinship, two voices bound by the same long dream. Train Dreams.

Watched Grimbsy on Sunday. Has a few funny sketches in the first 20 mins and sets up the film. Then goes horribly downhill when the main guy is sucking venom out of his brothers ball sack? As I said, was set up very well in Shameless TV Series style but then was fucking crap to be honest.

Watched Bugonia last night- very enjoyable. Conspiracy theorist and dumb sidekick kidnap Emma Stone - CEO of big Pharma Company thinking she’s an alien planning destroy humankind. Really good 8/10

I suppose I'm just sensitive to the plight of a woman who's baby was taken from her and adopted out without her permission. It's also upsetting to me to see a veteran in the graveyards of fallen servicemen. Or maybe I'm just odd eh
