Get him in he’s got pace, power, he’s direct, and he’s not afraid to take on a man. I just hope Pep doesn’t turn him into another cut-back or pass-back-to-the-defence type of player. We desperately need to become less predictable. If we can move Savio on in January, this could turn out to be a really good deal.

I would agree with you but Semenyo is not going through a purple patch or just a show of form. He's been one of the best wingers in the prem now for 3 seasons and has just gone under the radar. He's not quite stylish or a shirt seller name but he's effective.

1st season he got 8 goals , 2nd season he got 11 goals and so far he's on 6 this season in the premier league. For 65 million your getting a winger that's improving each season and producing the numbers. He also provides assists.

I remember Mane at Southampton was doing the same.

All valid points but I can't see Haaland deferring to him in the way Evanilson does. Even Mane largely benefitted from Firmino's willingness and work rate to let him have the chances.

It sums up the risk I can see in Semenyo - if he doesn't score 10-15 goals a year you've just got a winger that's worse at dribbling, passing, creating and holding the ball than any of our current ones and older at that.

It'd be a gamble that he can adapt and Pep get more out of him, but at 65m maybe worth a go, maybe not.

I think he'd be a top signing. He's aggressive, strong, and can dribble. His passing isn't elite but his finishing is. The way the league has developed in the last few years, you need to create goal threat from somewhere other than the centre forward position otherwise it's a little too easy to defend against you. I was hoping Marmoush would be that guy, but with him going to AFCON and Doku having become our most important creator along with Phil, Semenyo feels like the perfect signing at the perfect time.

Different profile of player to Mahrez but has the potential to have a similar impact. The other thing, and it's probably a bit tangential, but I like it. Semenyo will come to City fucking grateful that he plays for City. He'll run his bollocks off whenever he gets a chance. By all account mature, model professional, who is still looking to improve. Hopefully it gets done.

He looks great for Bournemouth, I agree, but we are a different ballgame in terms of expectations and the space afforded to us. Our forward line is talented and youthful. In central defence, we have youth and talent, with Reis likely to augment it and Mfuni on the way. Centre mid is different. Rodri may rise once more. Gonz looks great, but beyond that we are limited, for now.

The Sav situation is mad to me, how hard is it to get behind a 21 year old (who was la liga TOTY at 19) and has just signed a long term deal?

The replacments mentioned weren't better than him at 21 (or 19) and he'll likely be better than them at 25. It's a small bit of patience that's required.

I kind of like the idea about a front three with the pace and power of Haaland, Semenyo and Doku. If we can get them all more central with overlapping full-backs. Doku has taken huge steps with his threaded passing into traffic.

We’ve had many players worse than him over the years but I’ve never disliked a player as much. If the **** stays at City then I hope he does well as it benefits the club but I can’t see it and I won’t like him either way. He won’t give a fuck what I think mind.
